Agreed - I think Allen is a great player but he doesn't break up play in the same way Lucas does. We become a lot harder to beat with him in the team.

Lucas Allen Sahin would be my first choice midfield these days.

Fred, I still feel that Gerrard is integral to our team. We still need his creativity and drive. He is still scoring and creating goals and we need him. For mr it will be Gerrard and Lucas and then we rotate between Sahin and Allen. Just my opinion.

Sahin has been better than Gerrard recently and Allen has been fantastic in nearly every game.

We need to play Gerrard in home matches and against the big teams - away from home he just loses the ball too much.

Sahin and Shelvey recently have been better than Gerrard recently in the CAM role. Gerrards passing is too hit and miss to play alongside a holding midfielder. He was definitely at fault on thursday.

I think it's Gerrard who has to prove he can play the Brendan way.
Lucas, Allen & Sahin for me in midfield when all are fit. Both Sahin and Allen can provide the penetration, and both retain possesion better than Gerrard.
