Just read an article that Gary Rowett has already opened talks with both players to sign longer contracts.
For me, both have been instrumental in our current great run and both look like really good additions to the squad.
Tomlinson and Paterson

And Pato grabs a hat trick for the ressies today at Grimsby!
Delighted with this news, Tomlinson has been outstanding and his confidence gives the back line masses of confidence. Pato will score goals, but I believe his all round play will create as many.
Hope it's a year or two for both at least

“Stuart fits the bill in the terms of his size, strength and ability to deal with the ball under pressure,” said Rowett.
If you flip that on its head does it say something else? Does it say Ross Atkins does not fit the bill in 'size, strength and ability to deal with the ball under pressure?'
I think it does. What do you think? If you agree, why did he get Atkins on loan in the summer if he didn't tick the boxes?

As you know Otep Atkins never has ticked my boxes. When you get a half decent keeper between the sticks it just shows how poor Ross Atkins is and lets be honest Tomlinson isnt world class by a long way.

I don't know whether the terms of the loan deal make this an option but if do sign Tomlinson we might aswell send Ross Atkins back to Derby. We would have 2 'keepers on our books and one on loan. That does not make sense at league 2 level.
From what I saw of Lyness at Coventry he is a very good 'keeper and would be a capable back up.

Very pleased also, especially with Tomlinson he fills me with confidence and compliments our back four , if we can ship Atkins back to Derby then fine , but i suspect the loan deal is for a whole season .My gut feeling, is that he wont get offered a further contract with Derby for next season . Patterson has done enough to win maybe a deal till the summer or has he got that already ?, im not completely convinced in his ability but with Zola struggling with his fitness ,Kee not looking as sharp or as lean as last season ,and Yussef still to reach potential ,i can see Patterson playing a big part this season.

Yeah, I also think Atkins won't hang around too much longer. Tomlinson has such a commanding personality that maybe Atkins should learn a thing or two from him!
Paterson I believe signed on a contract till January, so extend it to the end of the season probably. Ability wise his performances so far have been good and in one or two games exceptional - at least it gives Billy some competition for his starting place, which might push him to get fitter and lose a bit of weight!

Gary needs to sign both of them on 2 year contracts.

I think Paterson has steadily improved and should be paired with Kee when Zola's unavailable. I was disappointed that he didn't start against B/Rovers and only got 5 minutes at the end.

I was told Paterson had a foot injury and that's why he didn't start on Saturday. I think he has been excellent so far and deserves more starts, especially as Zola is injured.
Billy on the other hand has not impressed me so far this season - he had a poor game on Saturday again and was only saved a barrage of abuse by grabbing the goal!
I am one of Billy's biggest supporters but so far his all round play has not impressed me -
Please do not abuse me for thinking this

I agree Derby Yellow. Billy is the most intelligent and skilful player at the club and has the most talent. He is quite stocky so I can't work out whether he is overweight or not. Unfit he definitely is.
Pots and kettles there by the way. I am overweight and unfit.
