I have been reading the threads and the debate of David Gills
appointment on, amongst others, the Liverpool and Man U boards with interest, and I thought Id put in my pennies worth.
I believe that a classic mistake of modern football fans who love the game and their club, is to make the assumption that the management 'upstairs', feel the same. Astonishingly Mr Gill and his colleagues at the FA (and even more scarily Man United) see absolutely no conflict of interest in his appointment, and obviously care even less should some fans think so.
Increasingly the business men at the top do not love football in the purest sense, many are much more interested in increasing their dividends and influence.
At this level of management your background and allegiances are totally subservient to the success you have had in business of making money.
I remember this dawning on me when a previous Chief Exec of the FA, Adam Crozier, was appointed straight from an advertising/ PR agency.
He had absolutely zero football experience and wasnt a football old boy (with or without bias). He was appointed as the new, modern figure-head for the FA, but his actual role was the running of the Football Business. (He also appointed Sven , but thats another story)
Crozier then went on to run the Royal Mail, again as a Chief Exec with no experience in this area either. At this level it matters not.
Obviously David Gill has tons more experience of management at a top PL club than Crozier, and I am not belittling his dedication to the beautiful game. BUT business bed-hopping, happens in every profession and increasingly PL football is no different.
There are of course exceptions to every rule, but less and less I believe.
Am I just an old fogey nostalgic for the days of Jack Walker and Blackburn, and when a pie cost less that £4 quid?
(Despite his cash, the likes of Mike Ashley and RA arent in Walkers league when it comes to passion imho)
Thoughts anyone?

Groovy.
Perhaps I should have said negotiations made by Arsenal heirarchy with those in high office, anyway, read your own clubs history and the shady dealings will become apparent

The FA are the same as most other big organisations that exsist today..
Corrupt and self regulated, and have very little respect for the people who pay their wages
