... a win. At home. Against the mighty Reading? Last twenty minutes consisted of Liverpool's world famous lets-hoof-the-ball-up-the-park-and-give-it-back-to-Reading-so-that-they-can-mount-yet-another-attack. Skrtel was inches away from scoring a fantastic own goal, Glen's typical relapses were there for all to see, StevieG just cannot get rid of his Hollywood shots, straight on to the touchline. On the positive side, Brad Jones made some fantastic saves, Andre looked v comfortable indeed as RB, Suso looked good too. Raheem's goal, class. Luis, apart from his lay off to Raheem to score, had a nightmare, slicing wide time and again, poorest final ball Ive seen. But, three points. Sorry for the rant. The team continues to display a lack of confidence.JimmyTheRed

Joe Allen had a shocker by his standards. He misplaced one pass, which is bad by him. He usually has a 100% passing accuracy. It was a poor 98% today.

You can't really say that though. Enrique had only just come back from injury, and was playing with a much weaker and younger side then Wisdom has.
I feel we will get more from Glen playing on the right, supporting Suso. Jose is still a very talented player, and I think he deserves a place back in the side. He looked good today aswell.

All that really matters today was that we got the three points. 7 points out of 9 is decent.
We have three very tough league games coming up - Everton, Newcastle and Chelsea - all away from home, so the win was absolutely vital today.

PPF, I hope I am being both positive and also realistic. For the last twenty minutes we were a team for the taking. It was all backs to the wall, then, when the ball was won, or when Reading lost it, hoof time, straight back to them. Jose, when he came on, presented the Reading defence with a problem. Hes been written off so many times as trying to play like Messi, but he was the main, of not sole means of easing the pressure on the back four itself. Reading obviously saw Joe A as being the fulcrum of the midfield, they were on him like a flash every time he got near the ball. three points, clean sheet, lets move on. JimmyTheRed

So wisdom should be dropped after some good performances because he was a little 'shakey'.. good for his confidence

Cant argue with your assesment Jimmy. Its Realistic to say the least.
However, if i may help with the positivity side of things, Even if Arsenal wins against Norwich, We will be 6pnts off Top 4!!!

You will never change Skrtel and Gerrard, they are very set in their ways (not their fault). Gerrard is always looking for the hollywood pass instead of ticking things over as Rodgers prefers and Skrtel will always panic and want to put it in row "z". I think long term, they will both be operating from the bench to be honest.
I think for the begining of next season we need a center back (pacey) a left back, a center midfielder (as well as keeping Sahin), and three forwards, with one being an out-and-out goal scorer. If we ship out the dead wood, our squad will have basically two quality sides, and young ones at that.

I'm not really worried about Skrtel, the reason why he was sloppy against Manchester City was because he was playing the Daniel Agger role, which is like Paul Scholes making a clean tackle. He just can't do it.
Skrtel is a wrecking machine, his job is to break it up when strikers get anywhere near the Liverpool penalty area, in other words..clatter anything that moves.
Daniel Agger provides the elegence and his passing style is superb, but he can't rough the opposition up like Skrtel does, they are a good combo because they are exact opposites.
Gerrard won't change, and doesn't need to, he's earned his stripes, other players won't change, but they haven't earned their stripes, so they are on a one-way ticket out of Anfield. I'm refering to Downing and Joe Cole in particular.

When any team at any level are not used to winning games it is often a struggle to get over the line with a 1 goal lead.
The important thing is that we got over the line, not how we did it.
We need to follow up and do the same against Anzhi, just win the game, and the hopefully we can do into the Derby in good shape. We have a good record at Goodison anyway and our away form has been ok for quite a long time.
Sort our home form out and we are top 6 challengers, today was the first step.
