- New details are coming out about The Undertaker's status for WrestleMania 29 and it's said that The Deadman is not in good shape at all. One thing that wasn't reported after his WrestleMania match with Triple H this year is that the hip replacement he had a few years back was damaged pretty bad.
There is talk that some of the surgical work he has had done over the past few years is really beat up to the point that he's back to square one. Taker had been going to see specialists in New York but he is so beat up now that WWE has been flying the doctors to his home in Texas instead.
There is also a lot of talk within WWE that if he does end up doing anything at WrestleMania 29, it likely won't be a big time physical match like we are used to. As we have noted, there is talk of having Taker work the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant with the idea he can do a few memorable spots before being eliminated.
Right now The Undertaker is not being figured into any major WrestleMania plans internally. The feeling is if he wants to do it and feels like he can do it, WWE will make room for him. It wouldn't be the first time but it's possible could see The Undertaker skip a WrestleMania in 2013.
Some people within WWE are under the impression that the "end of an era" hype from this year's WrestleMania against Triple H really was the end as far as big time WrestleMania matches for The Undertaker go.
saw this on the lordsofpain.net forum cant say i am surprised, taker has not wrestled much in four years only comming out at Mania.
thoughts on this as always welcome

He should just retire, end his career on a high rather than getting an even worse injury.

If Undertaker is going to skip the next wrestlemania then he might as well retire now. Next wrestlemania is likely to be his last so if he’s going to miss it, might as well quit wwe now unless he is in for the next one!

He should have just retired after this years Wrestle Mania on the Raw after, take his 20-0 and leave on a high.

Hopefully WWE uses this as a sign and just leaves his character's legacy alone. The only purpose left for him would be his streak ending, and only Kane in my eyes has earnt the right to do that..... and with each year the effectiveness of that potential job fades along with Kane's age (unless it gives Kane a min of 5 years living the life of his fictional character's status, it isn't worth it).
No disrespect to Mark Calloway, but his performances down the years have made his character more important than his personal feelings on the matter. It shouldn't matter if he's 'up for it', his character is jaded enough

btw, the Rumble swerve (hardly a swerve if they pull it now lol) sounded brilliant.

He'll surely have a send-off match, though. He's too much of an icon to just fade away without so much as a goodbye.

Really he should do one more match and call it quits after that if his injuries have got to this point. If not at Wrestlemania then at Survivor Series next year (at the same event he made his WWF(e) debut).
I'd hate to see him just becoming as broken down as Hogan in the ring and maybe risking ending up in a wheelchair through injury (which was why Foley and Edge both retired when they did), once more if he can, then ride off into the sunset.

I've never understood the 'one more match' obsession myself, especially in regards to someone as iconic as The Undertaker. I could understand it with someone who was taken from his craft by something other than age - such as The Rock, HBK before 02, or Edge (you never ever know) - but not a decorated legend.
I wouldn't mind if SS was HHH's last match, and i didn't even see it lol...... because the memory he's amounted is complete, has been for quite a few years now, it requires no ceremonial ritual of any kind to amplify is prominence to me. Ironically, because this has such a element of tradition to it, a refusal to have this "final match" would cater to the biggest psychological trick in the book. Despite a finished career, you'd still somehow leave them wanting more!!!
