FT: Wanderers 2-1 Cardiff LIVE match thread

Call me Ishmael.

This afternoon is Dougie and Lennie's first game in charge of the Whites, we're playing the league leaders, and we're back on the telly.

I feel today's game really could go any way, either team could get a thumping or scrape a win. Many goals or few.

This is our first match against Cardiff since Eidur Gudjohnsson's goal in the FA Cup 3rd round back in 1999 saw a 1-0 win on route to Wembley, and the first league encounter since Division 3 in 1989/90, when Wanderers did the double over the Redbirds - 3-1 at Burnden and 2-0 at Ninian Park.

Odds for this afternoon's game

I think these odds reflect the fact that even though we have been rubbish this season, we've only lost once at home, and that was to a late penalty.

Wanderers win 6/5
The Draw 5/2
Cardiff win 21/10

Here are our predictions for the game. An usually high proportion of posters predicting a draw - 2-2 being the most popular pick.

Did you know?

In 2012, Cardiff City were rebranded by the club's Malaysian owners, Vincent Tan and Chan Tien Ghee. They now play in red. At a recent home game against Birmingham City, a number of dull-witted Taffs accidentally cheered the away team out of the tunnel.

GUTTED! ... along with everyone else who predicted 2-2 in WF's and CEF's competitions. Any justice and it would have been 2-2.

That said, I cannot think of anything else to be unhappy about. Now daring for the first time this season to look at what's ahead of us up the league rather than the other direction.

Enjoyed that, good to see Ngog showing what he can do. Cardiff couldn't deal with him, I like the 4-5-1 too but would like to see Ream, Spearing, Holden (when fit) and Ngog come in for Knight, Andrews, Pratley and Davies.

Andrews has been a real disappointment so far for me.
Ngog and Petrov really turned the game and it was pleasing to see. I think beating Cardiff as we did. Not forgetting that the rarely troubled us in the first half shows that we are in a false position (we deserve to be there) and that the change made by Gartside may have come at the right time. I think DFs comments post game were spot on. He clearly picked a team to nullify Cardiff in the first half.

Great to see Ngog got some recognition. Ive always liked him, but it looked like we finally played to his strengths last night..only taken 14 months, the return of CYL and a change of manager!! haha.

The fact we were playing it into feet, and in behind, allowing him to get shots away, 2 decent attempts, plus his two goals, were excellent (How his first was given for offside i will never ever know) . When he returns the game after next, i hope he starts...where i said he should have been all season. Very good player, if his strengths are played too..only an effective player, who doesnt score but creates, if they arent.
