Probably going to sound really stupid to a lot of people, but one of the reasons defenses do so well at Anfield is because of how easy it is to park the bus on such a small playing surface.
Its a bit of a cliché example.. but if you look at the possession game Barcelona play, its quite apparent that the pitch being as large as it is definitely helps finding the defense splitting passes that we're so used to seeing.
I know its not going to happen considering the size of the stadium, although I'd like to see it accommodated when Anfield is redeveloped
