I don't understand why he even takes them, he should be hanging around on the edge of the area, or even challenging in the box. There's plenty of others who can take a corner just as badly as he can

Gerrard taking corners is just one of those moments when you put your head in your hands. Why oh why is he taking them? He used to be a good corner taker. Perhaps we don't have the right players getting on the end of them?

Sahin puts in a decent corner. Suarez too. Have Gerrard around the edge of the area, it will draw at least two players out of the area.

Freekicks need a lot more accuracy than corners, he only has to beat the first man , anywhere between the front and back post will do

I've been saying this for a couple of years now. Gerrard's corners are awful. In fairness though his free kicks led to 2 goals against Everton the other week.

I can never understand why he takes corners. Like GB said, he's more dangerous on the edge of the 18 yard box looking for the 2nd ball, or in the box. He's 6" something FFS!

First of all, one of the best articles you've done OP.

SG, never beats the first man - it truly beggars belief that a player with his ability can't take corners and secondly, why someone with his shooting ability isn't waiting outsid the box to belt them in.

I wouldn't mind, but he's one of the best crossers of the ball in the world from open play.

I think he has a phobia of flags or quadrants.

Agger and Skrtel don't win as much as they should.

But for Skrtels goal they've been largely poor when attacking corners

4 times in the space of 10 minutes last night ...same thing..hits the first man

Agger is very poor at heading the ball, in an attacking sense. I can remember at least five different occasions when he's missed sitters with his head. Skrtel is decent but having one player who can head the ball, perhaps Johnson also, is poor and maybe that is something which should be looked at. However when you're not clearing the first man, there's no excuse.
