Homophobia in football

I am reading a great deal about racism in football. Whilst any discussion and campaigns relating to this are welcome, I feel there isn't enough attention paid to an even more widespread scandal - homophobia on the terraces and in footballing culture in general.

How many openly gay pro-footballers have you heard of? Think about it for a second. Statistics alone suggest that a great many of the players you cheer for will be gay.

There has only been the slightest of progress on this issue since Justin Fashanu bravely came out as being a gay top level footballer. It a shame that a the footballing world is such that players (and managers) need to hide their true identity for whatever reason.

well, he wasn't that close was he in the end ? nd although he is religious, so far as im aware it wasn't only religious people who were voting for him. I didn't see him spending much time in those debates talking about religion.

I would agree though that there is still a lot of religion in the states, particularly in the southern states - "the bible belt". I don't think there's much religion in the north though, and im confident that statstics would support a view that there has been a huge decline in religious worship in the last 40 years in north America, Europe, Australia etc. same in the big south east Asian cities. we're too busy. we have too much mortal satisfaction, and too much mortal sense of purpose to need god.

...I think its still quite prevalent in Vatacan City

what percentage of the population of north America, Europe and Australia is the population of vatican city oddiy ? I think it's not very much

I have no idea Brayns - but it's a western country, and religion has far from died out there mate
