FT: Wanderers 1-2 Ipswich LIVE match thread

'I can't read, I can't write, but I can drive a tractor.
I can't tell my left from right but I can drive a tractor.'

- A popular song at Burnden during games vs Norwich and Ipswich

Good afternoon all. Today, Mick McCarthy's Ipswich, who have been absolutely smashed 5-0 and 6-0 in their last two away games. Unfortunately, Premier League Nigel is out of today's game with a little niggle.

The clubs last met in the FA Cup in January 2005, with Wanderers 3-1 winners at Portman Road in round 3.

We also did the double over them in their last PL season, 2001-02, gaining revenge for the infamous Play Off Semi Final 2nd leg in which Barry Knight took cheating to a new level.

The clubs have met 33 times in history, with 13 wins apiece and 7 draws.

Did you know?

Ipswich is the setting for Charles Dickens' 'The Pickwick Papers'.

In the mid-19th century coprolite was discovered in Ipswich.

The locals started mining it immediately.

"MT - he is correct. Debt was £40m when Sam left. It rocketed between 2007 and 2010."

And when he arrived...?????

And those years had NOTHING to do with the debt...?

It's the wording CEF..... It contributed... Like Megson did, like Coyle did.. One constant was Gartside..

I have stated many times on here over the last 12 months, this relegation will destroy us.We have players that are so sub standard for the PL and who appear not to be streetwise/full of commitment call it what you will for this division.Im not happy although expected this as I have said. The club lacks an credible identity at the moment, this is rubbish lets all admit it eh?.

Two different discussions going on here MT.

The finance one, I was trying to keep light-hearted, hence all my spreadsheet nonsense.

The historical financial figures can't be debated, because they are written in black and white for anyone who wants to spend the time looking at them.

The footballing one - well that is all opinion!!!!

Mate I'm happy to keep lighthearted..

I'm just frustrated at the debt and how people blame the size of the club..

Paying the wages we did during Big Sam's day was unsustainable and that's been said on record..

At least we tasted happiness...

My ultimate focus in this discussion is to question Gartside and to some extent Eddie...

CEF

You seen my tweets... I was pitchside til the lad ran off.... He went in the tunnel prior to kick off and said to the organiser "I want Eagles" - Such was his determination, they let him!!!!! Eagles said to him " Are you nervous?" Lad replied "No, you??" brilliant!!

Yes, seen them. Sounds like he's had a good day despite the disappointing result.

Did you see the Sport's Relief sketch with Frank Lampard and the girl from Outnumbered. I kind of got that image in my head

The side Megson put together was earning £56m in wages, the most Big Sams ever cost was £30m... Big Sam model was sustainable... It was the 2 years after which did the damage financially and the knock on effect continues!
