i never ask for "premier league" performances, i dont think we can "enforce" our style of play on anyone for 90 minutes, all i ever ask for is that the "BASICS" are done right and we dont , week in week out fall into the same old sh-t..

Batty was just another average midfielder in the Wilkins and Carrick mould, propelled into the limelight because he thought he was "well hard".
Fought with his own players and couldn't pass either forwards or more than 10 yards. English football does not miss David Batty.

He dominated the midfield, and control the game
Am not a huge fan of his but at least he technically a good player and we don't produce another of them

Who knocked Ray Wilkins ?? Class player,,, Awesome at the Gers,,, And you didnt play in Italy at the time he did if you were not good,,, He played with the best players in what was the best league at the time..

As for England,, When Wilkins was playing for them (apart from his strop) we had a good side, Who did try to keep the ball,,, Just unfortunate that we always seemed to get knocked out of World cups at the time by pure bad luck, Or losing to some side at midday in the boiling heat, Coming from warmer climates, With a stand out star player, They were better at it than us,, You dont or didnt play for AC Milan for nothing, Carrick and Batty are not anywhere near his class.

Wilkins was football Marmite, and he wasn't for my palette. I do enjoy his punditry though.
Hateley was another who played for both Milan & Rangers, and another who flattered to decieve.

I liked him too,, Saw him against Town for Pompey when he was a kid,, I remember a few folk saying "tony hateleys lad", I had no idea who tony hateley was, But i was impressed by the mullet sporting young Hateley,, We got blitzed by Kev O Callaghan and am pretty sure Pompey rammed the open end and had half of the main stand (seats) that day ?
