Murray fails to win sports award

Even after having ended the drought for British tennis in 3 different categories-making the Wimbledon final, winning gold at the Olympics and winning the U.S Open,Murray still failed to win the BBC sports personality award.
Murray only managed to come in 3rd behind Jessica Ennis who only won gold in her event category
If Murray couldn't win the award after achieving all of the above one has to wonder if even being the first British player to play tennis on the moon will

Is it because Murray has no personality or is it because he just isn't a likeable person?

It's simply because there were so many outstanding sporting achievments this year. I don't see why tennis should be an Olympic sport but golf - and many other sports - not.

Don't you think Bradley Wiggins is a worthy winner? He can now join the list of famous Belgians. Would you have preferred the captain of the first London team to win the Champions League?

And surely Rory McIlroy has achieved more in golf this year than Murray has in tennis, even if he failed to pick up an Olympic gold.

I think Murray,Farrah and Wiggins were the top 3 for the title but yet Ennis came in second proving it has nothing to do with achievements and everything to do with popularity and likability
The fact that Murray only scored 230 444 votes being arguably Scotlands greatest sportsman speaks volumes...he isnt even popular or liked in his own native country

It was always gonna be hard to win it in olympic year. He would of had to win wimbledon to get it probably.

Vee-jay

So why did the unpopular Murray finish ahead of Farah. Everybody loves Farah...

"Because he is a good runner up."

@ bigfingers

Henman would have won it on the back of a Wimbledon final alone..there was even talk of him winning it just making another semi final at Wimbledon

@Kagawa
Who said everyone loves Farah?
I would like evidence to back that up please...( and that means everybody as in everybody)
And lets not forget that Farah isn't British by birth nor are this ancestors indigenous to this country

Henman is a clown and a total loser. Bottler. British sport in the early noughties was a joke. Only recently have we got our house in order.

The general consensus is that Farah is popular. The infamy of the 'Mobot' reiterates this. It only takes a bit of common sense to realise that Farah is popular. Just like it takes common sense to realise that John Terry is well disliked. Evidence isn't really needed when discussing something that is abstract.

What does Farah's ethnic background got to do with his popularity.

Nope its not a fact, you're only assuming Farrah is popular and its not common sense,in fact its the complete opposite to assume he is.If you're gonna use common sense as your argument, its completely flawed as common sense doesn't always prevail, stupidly often triumphs...perfect example -case in point
Just because of what is reported in the papers doesn't automatically equal public opinion.
Like you I used to think Terry was arguably the most hated footballer around..that couldnt have been further from the truth when looking at the huge support he received over the racism scandal in the comments sections of various media outlets.

People who are not indigenous to this country are generally not favoured as much as a real native of this country.Farrah is of Somalian descent as coming from someone who lives in Camden that has one of the largest Somalian communities in the U.K I have first hand knowledge and would bet that they are among the most disliked immigrants the U.K.
If Farrah was really that popular and liked,he would have beaten Ennis to second place or get the 3rd,with Murray in 2nd.Ennis only won 1 gold,Farrah achieved an incredible double gold feat and still couldn't make the top 3.He totally deserved to make the top3 based on his achievements alone
As for Henman,I never said he deserved the title,I only reported what was said a few years ago while he was still active
