If the rumours of Sturridge and Ince being almost done deals is true then i think we have to go 4-4-1-1.
----------------Reina------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique
Sterling--Gerrard--Lucas--Ince
---------------Suarez------------
---------------Sturridge---------
Whilst i remain un-convinced of Sturridge, he will stretch teams and pull the trigger on sight leading to a better goal return, although personally i remain of the opinion he's a poor mans Defoe.
Anyway, the main reason is that their just isn't enough goals in midfield with three in it. Lucas and Allen have around five goals a season at the most between them whilst age and carrying LFC for the last decade has caught up with our captain. Jonjo is the only midfield player i see with an eye for goal, so for me it has to be 4-4-1-1 to get more goals in the side.
The other big reason is Luis Suarez. IMO he is not a goal-scorer, he will create chances all day long and be a defenders night-mare but he's not a reliable scorer. I think playing just off a pacey striker and two quick wide-men would see him flourish.
I have suggested Ince on the left because i feel a Johnson-Sterling partnership on the right would have great success in creating chances for Sturridge and Suarez with Ince coming in from the other side to add his fare share of goals as he does for Blackpool (although a lot are pens).
I also think that the burden on Gerrard to be our goal-scorer in a midfield three is a big ask. I thought he was superb in a deep-lying midfield role during the Euro's and have no doubt he could pull the strings for us in a similar role with Lucas doing the simple stuff.
As long as Johnson and Enrique are doing their fare share of over-lapping, you could end up with both Gerrard and Lucas in ideal positions to protect Skrtel and Agger. Although obviously on occassions Steven would pick and choose moments to get in the box as a late runner.
Just a food for thought, what do you think, 4-3-3 or 4-4-1-1 ?
4-4-1-1

Just heard a rumour. From an implacable source. A striker. Not exactly a household name, but incredibly talented. When I've seen him play, he scares the opposition. Remember when teams were scared to come to Anfield?? I must confess, I struggle to believe that we are going to get him, and, as always, will wait till he is paraded, in Red, at Anfield. He really will be a surprise signing if we get him. If we don't sign him, I will declare, and that's a promise. jimmyTheRed

4-3-3 will remain the formation. sturridge and ince will compete for the right forward position. both like to play on that side and cut in on their stronger left foot. obviously suarez through the middle with sterling at the moment on the left.
i find the ince signing a little confusing. he's very similar to sturridge and i think we need someone ready to start on the left ahead of sterling.

And there lies the problem. Suarez is never a central striker and that is the position we need filling with a Quality player

If we get Sturridge, I could see him central and Suarez right.
that's both of them in their 'correct' positions anyway

He's no Defoe, Defoe can actually play as a lone striker and City got 3.5mil for Sturridge.
