now I'm starting to get worried...

...not necessarily at the sale of Leroy Lita, but more the fact I've just read that if will sell Lita for £1.75mil, we can start to add players to the wage bill, but not pay any transfer fees - oh wow, good news...!

...t'was only a Tweet from a journalist mind, but he's usually pretty bang on.

...if Emnes goes too, then we're faced with a Lee Miller attack next year.

Like you Chickenlunch I'm starting to get worried but, only because we have so little time before the big kick - off for any new signings to bed in and become used to the way Tony M. is trying to get us to play.
I'm sure that a lot of work has gone on behind the scenes already and potential targets have been identified and contacted, the big question is; will they come here when they see what is on offer ?
Too often players sign for a team with lots of glib phrases about them being the only team they would have gone to and then turn out to be just another mercenary chasing money. We have had more than our fair share in the past so hopefully Tony will get it right this time.
As for Lita going, although it leaves us light on real strikers at the moment, (Emnes is not one and apparently neither is Miller !!!) I don't believe he is a great loss. His strike rate of worse than 1 in 4 is poor in this division if you have aspirations of the Premier league and his goals per chance ratio is considerably worse. We will not miss his selfishness, lack of vision, offsides and throwing himself to the floor almost everytime a defender got near to him.
Our two recent defeats also have to be taken into context, neither match was played with anywhere near a first choice team but it does expose the lack of strength in depth within our squad. As I have stated previously on this forum, Hines and Grounds in particular are only any good as back up players and we will be in trouble if we have to play them over a long period.
It would help considerably If we could find anyone daft enough to take Hoyte off our hands, that would give us more scope to bring in the calibre of player we need. (Unless Tony can work miracles and do for him what he was doing for Taylor, convert him into a wide midfielder. I doubt this though because he doesn't have the vision, crossing ability, skill and most important of all, the heart to put himself out for us)
Nevertheless I'm sure Tony will get it right and Steve Gibson will eventually give him the support he needs. "Keep the faith" and roll on the start to the season !!!

I hear you chicken, but I'm not tooo worried just yet...

mainly because Mogga's managed to move on people that I wanted gone and kept the better ones - where I had worried we might loose Bennett, Skippy, Emnes and be lumped with Boyd n Digard. So far so good methinkst!

also, I reckon there are some decent players available on free's and loans; see all the bodies released at the end of last season, an imploding Birmingham and citeh's reserves. hopefully, having lost another high wage (Lita came on a free so I'm sure he'd have been offered a good contract to come), we'll see some face's coming in.

In short, I like the squad we have for a few games, if not a whole season, if there aint signings come September, then my optimism will start fading!
