Nuri Sahin

So what's the general consensus about Nuri Sahin leaving?
Was he too weak for the Premier League? Too slow? Not fit enough? Not given a chance? Managed unfairly by Rodgers?

Rdgers managed him well like any other player.
When Nuri got a run in less pressured match vs poor opposition he scored 2, yet when he was put in any of his premier league matches, he was virtually non existent.
And then het got injured.
I think it was the fact that he was so used to slow build up play, then when the counter attack had to be decreased by a second or two, he failed to rise to the challenge. I think had we kept him, he would have adapted and become a more stronger, bigger asset that could have made a difference.
It's a shame, he could have shone at Arsenal

The thing i didn't like about Sahin was that he couldn't tackle, not even a little. To play CM in the premier league you have to be able to win your fair share of tackles, regardless of how good you are on the ball. In possession he was neat and tidy, but no more so. If he was on £120k as has been reported, then letting him go is the correct decision IMO.

He has not played since he had a moan publicly and I think that is about it.

He leaves only being on the losing LFC side once which was on debut when he was not match fit.

He was a passenger most of the time. If it means we get a proper defensive midfielder instead then I'll be happy.

Not given a fair go. Scored three goals in 12 games. Something not right here.

Joe cole scored 1 in 3 games.
I don't exactly call that a reason for him to stay

Honestly, didn't look like he gave a damn about the game. The effort level was too low on the pitch, the reports of lack of fitness probably didn't help but can anyone say he looked like a man determined to rebuild his career after a couple of difficult years?

Press comments won't have helped but it seemed like more of a lack of commitment to me. Hope the home town club drags him out of himself.

I think he was a very talented player, but I don't think he ever really wanted to be here in the first place.

I think he thought he was here to stroll about, get his fitness level back up and then go back to Madrid and fight for his place. He came here because Madrid wanted it, not because he did really.

He wasn't expecting a fight for his place here, but other than a couple of weeks in October he never looked like the player who won Bundesliga player of the year at 21.

Best for everyone that he moved on. He will be happier in Dortmund so more likely to play well, and we save a bit of money (presumably).

I am not sure we will sign a midfield replacement though, not this month anyway. I think Henderson has stepped up (rumours that BR was happy for him to leave back in August, not sure that is the case now).

Allen, Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson and Shelvey should be enough to get us through this season. With Coady and Suso also available.

Decent article which highlights that Sahin was not given a fair crack.
