It's Gonna Happen, Part 2

I really am starting to believe we will be down south soon!!

The Conference want us

An exclusive talkSPORT poll has revealed clubs in the Blue Square Premier Division would be in favour of the switch, and Lee insists it would not be impossible.
He told Keys and Gray: “On Monday [January 21] we have a mid-season meeting of clubs so that is a topic for conversation. It’s up to the clubs to make rule changes.
“There are one or two problems, of course. It’s up to FIFA whether a club can change countries or not, so that’s the first issue. And the second, and probably the most important, is the problem it would create with promotion and relegation and having an uneven number of teams.
“It would be wrong if the Football League would not take Rangers as part of the promotion and relegation system. Otherwise they would be in the Conference keeping out a team who might have the wherewithal to go higher in the pyramid.
“But they are not insurmountable problems. You will have to have the co-operation of a lot of different organisations to make it possible, but where there is a will there is a way."
talkSPORT polled 14 of the 24 clubs in the Blue Square Premier League to ask if they would support a move to introduce Rangers into the league. These are the results…
Barrow – MAYBE
Braintree Town – YES
Ebbsfleet – MAYBE
Forest Green - NO
Gateshead – NO
Hyde - MAYBE
Macclesfield – YES
Mansfield – YES
Newport - NO
Nuneaton – YES
Southport - YES
Stockport - YES
Tamworth – YES
Wrexham - YES

,

Being honest mate. I ran the thread last week as a wum and it flopped. This week however after listening to.the top.man in the conference say his piece yesterday I ran with it again. I am honestly starting to believe it really could be on the cards

"And yet none of them got near the Championship."

I think losing out 1-0 on aggregate to an 85th minute goal in the 2nd leg in the league one playoff semi final is getting near the championship Ginge mate, and considering it took penalties for Huddersfield to beat Sheffield United aswell, its harld a million miles away from getting to the Championship.

and as 2020Vision of Leeds says, the resources these teams had would not nearly be as much as Rangers would have in these leagues, so I just do not know what your point is, where you are coming from and what you are getting at here

I'm not sure if I want us to play in England, I know it would show the rest of them in Scotland that they need us...... But how long before we ever won anything meaningful again? Grass isn't always grener
=====

i just think its time to call a day on scottish football. kicked from pillar to post, used asa form of blackmail to etort money from the SFL tv deal. Sporting integrity used when it suits.

the whole of scottish football want rid of us. i would happily go even if it meant never winning another trophy or playing in europe ever again.

we have had more successes in the past than most clubs ever will

I see where you are coming from Ginger, but I think you seriously underestimate just how popular the conference actually is (average gates of 6000, thats SPL club level stuff), and how much more popular it would be if Rangers were put in there, not by attracting more English fans, which it might do, but how much more tv time and spotlight the league would be given.

As said again, we are NOT an SPL club right now, and the level of finance we could get by moving to the Conference...now....wouldnt be a stones throw away from the sort of money we could get back in the SPL, might be less yes but it wouldnt be millions, becasue teh conference is a league with a tv deal already, on its own accord without the old firm to boost audiences and it has a seven figure sponsorship deal already too, and again, with Rangers in it that league and with the tv audience it would attract to the conference, those figures could rise and likely would.

If clubs like Stevenage and Crawley, with some investment but not millions upon millions, can get two and almost three successive promotions to league one and league two, utilising guys like ex St Johnstone, Hibs and Inverness player Felipe Morais and former Killie, St Johnstone, Dunfermline, Falkirk and current QOS player Willie Gibson in doing so, I just dont understand how you think we will need massive massive investment or how our income stream will be damaged so dramatically when the conference is not a millions miles away form teh SPL in terms of attendance and attracting TV audience, without the old firm, or when we are signing SPL quality players better than the guys I've mentioned, while we are a third division club not on SPL income either, doesnt add up for me at all mate, sorry

Getting to the championship is the only point where our income woud SIGNIFICANTLY increase, not from lower league levels, but SPL levels, but getting there would not be much different to working up the leagues in Scotland, it'd be a lot harder yes but we'd be playing in a better league and making more money in the process of doing so, ~I fail to see how that would be a bad thing for us compared with division two and division one in Scotland, or even the SPL which is, lets face it, pi$h
