The Striker & Levy debate

Afternoon Guys

well i know we have covered this well on here but just thought i would post conversation i had with my best mate last night

He and i followed the team home and away for yrs and i value his views and loyalty to the club

last night we both expressed different views but could not believe how angry he was about the club and levy

I know i have expressed my views that im not happy we have not signed a new striker but have tried to reason that there are onlt 13 league games left so if we can get 4th then hopefully we can buy big in the summer

What happned last yr with Chelsea winning champions league really set us back so i guess i just resigned myself to the fact that we have to make do

My mate on the other hand is fuming and thinks levy should go and has failed for 3 yrs to improve the team and to really challenge when we had a chance, we threw away 3rd and not just because of Harry but by signing 2 crap players on loan in jan when we had a chance to challenge for the title if we thought BIG

He said to me that we have no chance of 4th at all because of the lack of strikers and the fans will turn on levy in the summer

We have had a £20 quid bet on it as i think we will get 4th by the skin of our teeeth

Now i dont want peoples views about now but at the end of the season

VOTE 1 if you think YES... levy should go if we finish outside the top 4 for failing to get us a striker that we so badly needed

VOTE 5 If you think NO ....... Levy should stay and carry on the good work hes doing

VOTE 3 ......... Sitting on the fence

I have to say im on the fence with this, i do think hes been fantastic for our club and we are moving forward but the short mindedness of his dealings could really cost us this season if we fail to get 4th

Spending 20 million on Dammio would not of broke the bank and we would of had a top striker at a young age who could go on to be one of the greats

Is his penny pinching costing us being where we feel we belong, back in the big time, teams are improving every yr so we must as well and you cannot do that by making a profit on transfers 3 yrs running unless your very lucky

This is not a have a go at Levy article, just interested in what people think if we do fail this season, you can hardly blame the manager when hes had no funds to improve his team and get the players he wants

We are so close to having a good team but it could go either way in the next 2 or 3 yrs

It is not down to the Chairman to identify who to buy, it is the manager who determines that, the Chairman & the Board the approve it r not. Once approved the other club are contacted & negotiations begin.

However Spurs work within a financial model on both fees & wages. Remember that a £20m+ player will in turn normally cost another £15-20m in wages.

On the gates & income we generate as a club we could not afford to sign certain players and continue to operate in a financially fiscal maner.

This is the harsh reality, which is why I say beware f what you wish for in asking should Levy go?

Personally I feel that if we miss out on 4th (therefore presumably losing Bale and potentially 1 or 2 others) then instead of kneejerk shouts of Levy out and a sacking of AVB we should do what Liverpool have done. Accept we're off the strength of the top 4 or so and re-build. Because they may have had an awful few seasons but to me Liverpool are starting to look very dangerous now

"Accept we're off the strength of the top 4 or so and re-build."

They can do that, cos as I illustrated the other week, they have a 'core' revenue of 200m. And it hasn't even been damaged by nearly 4 yrs of no CL piggy trough.

Spurs revenues were 170m last season.

I am dismayed at fans turning on Levy, ok let's buy every one, fk the stadium, fk the new training ground, spend what we don't have so we do a Leeds fk it all so if we don't sign a striker with a super cool name I'm sulking and you can have your season ticket back.

Damn I must be having a bad day if I am agreeing with you

im fed up of rebuilding , seems we have been doing that for yrs

Really? I feel like we have been building and not rebuilding.

If we are rebuilding then it must have been a very flimsy structure in the first place because it didn't bring is much success
