Anyone reckon a dimpled ball should be used for wet conditions to improve handling ?

The ball is the same for both teams. Simple as that. Its not like England were catching a different ball to Ireland today.
Just We kept dropping it and England didn't.
Come to it Heaslipour fearless leader kept dropping it and hell while he was at it when he got the chance he set up a ten over it and gave a penalties away. Honestly the Yellow was a bit harsh against England, Heaslip should have been carde long before!
Our new fearless leader. With his lovely metro sexual hair. Sorry to sound bitter but im not one bit unhappy with England. Just right P'd off with Ireland.

Don't understand why players don't wear those rugby gloves in wet conditions

fair enough Ding. Of course rugby is a game where the ability to adapt is an important attribute, and players should be able to play the relevant game to suit applicable conditions. On the flip side though, yesterday's game would have been pretty dire as an independent observer, and spectators were deprived of many of the skills that these players have.

As far as I know official match balls already have "dimples" on them to aid grip - I know ours used to definitely at Belper as some older "slick" balls often found their way onto the pitch by accident in warmups and they were a nightmare.

there used to be two balls about when I was playing. we used to use the smooth ball in matches but there was a heavily dimpled ball about as well. the match ball they use looked more like the smooth ball as the dimples were pretty easy to see - maybe I've got that wrong though.

that's definitely where the ball is at its wettest.
