It is probably the perfect example of the fickleness of football fans in general that any problems are always blamed on the manager.
And yet they rarely receive much of the credit.
Today was embarrassing - no doubt. Certainly one of the worst defeats in my almost 30 years of going to Ibrox.
Who do I blame for this?
Same folk I blame for EVERY defeat - the players on the park.
They do not look interested. They are fairly sure the league is won. They know for absolute certain that they will not be sold as there is nobody to replace them, save the under 18s.
The players in out first team squad, the vast majority of whom have top tier league experience, should be able to beat every 3rd div team.
The likes of Black, Shiels, Sandaza, Cribari, the big daft Greek - all have played at far higher level, but are failing spectacularly at Rangers, week in, week out.
Yes, the manager should drop them, but then he would be blamed for not playing them should the younger lads get a doing.
So, perhaps if those named players, and others, actually bothered turning up occasionally, we might have far less performances like today.
For me, I'd drop them all. Losing today with 5 under 17s replacing the players named would have been no disgrace.
To those who are using today as an excuse to savage McCoist - pathetic, really pathetic.
Who would you have instead? Davies, Calderwood, Nichol???
Understand this very clearly, no one else is going to come. They have ZERO opportunity to buy until 2014. No one is going to sign up for that. We COULD be playing in either 2nd SFL div, 2nd or 3rd SPFL div next season, so could be playing Annan again, or end up playing the likes of Aberdeen & Hearts twice in the daft middle 8.
How do you build for that with no spending at all?
Ally haters - the door is on your left - use it at your leisure.

Was it that bad today?

Agree completely about playing players out of position. Little should start up front every game. Give Hemmings a chance too.

I've said before and I will say it again, this is the perfect time to restyle our team, tactics and whole culture and Ally is not the guy to do it.
Billy Davies is but would he come now he's just gone back to Forrest?
We need a whole clearout of coaching staff.
I'd even be happy to go to the Netherlands and bring some more of their coaches over.
Ally or anyone will win the various leagues to the top year in year out that's not a measure of success. The football would make your eyes bleed.

The most surprising and worrying thing about today is that it was absolutely no surprise whatsoever.

The writing was on the cards with Ally from day 1 pretty much. I'm surprised it's taken so long for lots of others to see it.
He'll always be a legend and it's not something any of us wanted, but it is the reality.
I was glad when I read what Green said the other day, as it seemed to me that he was laying the foundations and groundwork to getting rid of Ally.

I love how everyone seems to think theyd do a better job
"Ally should do this, Ally should do that"...
We ARE in the 3rd division. NO team has a divine right to win every game, so stop thinking its time to bin the manager every time we do lose one (incidentally that would be 2 games this season...)
Some people forget that we're not running with a fraction of the quality we had even last season.
On paper, these guys "should" beat whatever team is put in front of them, but it doesnt always work that way, and ability, tactics, motivation, a wee bit of fortune are just a few of them...
Blaming the manager is the easy way out.
Some say its the managers job to get players motivated, but thats THEIR OWN fac king job.
Some people say that he signed the players - NOONE could deny the quality they showed last season, so noone could have gessed theyd be pash this season.
And we bin McCoist...like most people at least seem to pick up on - who replaces him to manage a bottom tier club who have a signing ban?

load of good comments guys but football is success driven and this will not happen under ally. His Management team do not seem able of organising them into a solid team and until a new manager sorts this out we have this sort of performance regularly.

Everyone knows Ally has had his hands tied Brooklyn.
How tied are those hands compared to part timers who work full time in 'real' jobs and have no training facilities team and who team cost about £50 a game?
If managers don't matter and it's all the players why even bother with managers?
Tell that to Jose and Fergie.
Managers are the single most important thing in any team. Ally sadly isn't one.

Based on what Castle? Does anyone remember Fergie's first season at Utd?
No, because he was given time to work and built up success after a miserable first season.
He didn't have half the crap to contend with that Ally has had.
I know most Gers fans expect to win every single week, certainly at this level and probably in every Scottish domestic division.
We're used to success and we expect results now.
It doesn't mean we're invincible though and that we won't lose the odd game to teams we "should" be beating.
We've lost 2 league games all season.
That's 4 less than Celtic, who have a similar financial advantage over the rest of the league.
It's 3 less than Mourinho's Real Madrid, who are sitting 3rd in a 2-team league.
We are where we are and calling for the managers head at this stage does nothing to help the team.
Like I say, WHO replaces Ally, who can do a better job? Honestly, who?
Whoever comes in, has to work with the same players for the next 12 months.
If they don't come up with the goods on the pitch every now and again, then what manager gets a 100% record out of them.
Answer: Noone.
