Brewers Match Predictor (42): Port Vale

Vale away is a game I somehow always turn up 10 minutes late for. It is uncanny. Walking to the ground or through the turnstyle I have endured The Dave Clark Five singing 'Glad All Over' as Vale have scored. One season I got that tune in the car park and then again just 2 minutes later as I went through the turnstyle ! 2-0 before I had even arrived.

'Glad All Over' will be played twice on Friday as we lose 2-0.

Wholeheartedly agree with the views of JFWQ and Steve1210, but I think we are now probably 15 league places above where we expected to be. I think the lads will give it 110% Friday and the remaining matches. Because of doubts that they can all deliver in these important matches I'm sorry I can't see beyond: -
Vale 4 Brewers 1

Agree with you frank.
We always seem to fail on the big games.
Can't remember the last time we actually went away and beat a good side.
We would even struggle at home against these infront of a large crowd.
Sadly a draw is the most we can expect.
The playoffs loom nearer and i'm not confident about those seeing how we performed against Chesterfield.
2 weeks rest yet we looked tired.

I've thought hard and long about this game and though I know realistically the best we can expect is a draw, will be wildly optimistic and go for a 3-2 win for the Albion.

I never liked 'Glad all Over', it's a crap song.

I hope that I am wrong but I think that another defeat is on the cards tonight. I will go for a 3.1 scoreline to the Vale

34 minutes listening to the excellent Charles Collins and Tony Bentley. Nothing personal guys, but I 'm going down the pub!

What a shambles ! , surely we could have kept the scorline down to a respectable margin ,we are supposed to be a top six side challenging for promotion .I just new we would crumble tonight ,what a masterstroke reducing the home pricing . Over 10000 fans all getting behind their side chanting ,Lee Hughes doing his customary jig after every soft goal . Well to be honest i hope we dont go up,because on the evidence of this we are still not good enough . I know players have been out injured but they would have made very little difference tonight . Not sure where we go from here ,Play offs? I think we need to hope Northampton beat Bradford but dont think i could stomach this in league one week in week out .

Port Vale turned this match into their cup final, coming up with a strategy to boost the attendance and with it create an atmosphere to get the Brewers on the run, looks like the strategy performed well and maybe something we could learn from, offering a scheme to reduce the home pricing to a tenner for standing for our remaining home matches may just have increased our attendances to help our push.

As teams jockey for play-off positions it's all about momentum and consistency at this time of the season.

Apart from Gillingham and Port Vale I have no idea which teams will be promoted or contest the play-offs but I find it amusing to read fans' forums which state "If we win our last 4/5 games we'll finish 3rd/7th"

Looking at the last 10 results Burton has 6 wins
Northampton 5,Rotherham,Exeter,Cheltenham and Chesterfield 4, Bradford City 3,Southend and Fleetwood 2.

Hopefully we'll beat Northampton today and Bristol on Tuesday and who knows when we meet in a fortnight it could be another cup final atmosphere?
