Tottenham 2 v 2 Basel Live match thread

EUROPA LEAGUE

Venue: White Hart Lane Date: Thursday 4 April Kick-off: 2005 BST

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is out of the Europa League quarter-final first leg tie against Basel with a groin injury.

Defoe could be sidelined for up to 10 days and is also likely to miss Sunday's league game against Everton.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has recovered from a knee injury suffered in France's World Cup qualifier against Spain.

Sandro and Younes Kaboul are still out, but Clint Dempsey is back in the squad after playing for the United States.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas said: "Jermain is a new injury blow.

"He is likely to miss the next two games against Basel and Everton, but has a small chance [of returning] for the second leg against Basel."

The 'Christian Gross' derby
Christian Gross
•Swiss Christian Gross spent an unsuccessful nine months in charge of Tottenham before being sacked by the club in September 1998.
•He returned to his homeland and, during 10 years at Basel, won the league four times. His side also knocked Liverpool out en route to the second group stage of the 2002-3 Champions League.

Basel knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League group stages last season and beat eventual finalists Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last-16 tie, before being eliminated.

Weare not just any players either. Honestly if you were to hand pick the 4 players you least wanted injury, they're the ones that are injured.

And then if you were to pick the 6 you least wanted injured, you would add Sandro and Kaboul to that, who are already injured. You couldn't make it up!

Leave it out with the whining you are sounding like the woolwich. Injuries happen in football and thats that

They certainly do, but I don`t see any of the top four getting the amount of injuries Spurs seem to be getting just at the important part of the season. Our players seem to be dropping like flies now.

What I consider five of our most players could all be missing for the run in, Lloris, Bale, Lennon, Sandro and Kaboul

Fell asleep after our match. Just coming to check up on the Bale situation. Any news or just speculation on how long he will be out? I've heard broken ankle and then also 2 weeks. Looked quit a bad roll.
