23rd March 1986

was my first trip to Wembley with Chelsea, I had been a fair few times to watch England but since my first Chelsea game in 1973 this was Chelsea's first appearance there in my time as a fee paying fan. The game was of course the Full Members cup final between City and Chelsea.

I hadn't even considered this when I bought my ticket but now the working week is over and my mind is free to wander, it got me thinking back to that day, a massive day for me back then but of course now the game is not even recorded in our trophy cabinet (no arguments)

This got me to reflecting, both our teams have come a long way since then, relegations, promotions, titles and trophies, indeed Chelsea have been to Wembley so many times in the last few years it is no way as big a deal for me anymore to go there, I still enjoy the day out , no mistake there but it isn't as special as it was. Maybe holding the Semi finals there doesn't help, still I prefer it to traipsing up to Old Trafford.

So I guess some of you guys were at Wembley back in 86, I expect you are as happy as I am with your teams progress since that day. I hope despite the defeat you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did. I remember I had drunk so much I was seeing double, not much fun seeing 2 of every player, makes you feel dizzy.

Well I hope you all have a enjoyable day tomorrow, and for those of you there in 86

You should have had more to drink like I did

I remember it well, also for the very strange situation where we had to play a League game the day before at Southampton which we won 0-1 but obviously had to play a mix-and-match team with the game at Wembley the next day.

my memory of the day is that City also went 1-0 up and then we took a 5-1 lead.

Oh and Colin Lee scored the best goal of the day

Remember it well, we were 5-1 down with abut 5 mins left and pulled it back to 5-4. Honour in defeat and all that. And to think we'd played at the Swamp 24 hours earlier and got a 2-2 draw there.

Didn't Colin Lee score 4 that day..?
first time she went to the Bridge with me was Man Utd...must've been mid to late 80's we got beat 3-1, she spent most of the match watching the 38,000 crowd

Oh yes, I was there. It all seemed as bit two bob at the time
But I remember thinking "well, a cup is a cup"
Maybe that smallish club from Tottenham should try that attitude!
