Still optimistic of our chances...

Couldn't get to the Palace match so listened on radio, Stringer and Youngy sounded very optimistic at the end of the game whereas I felt that a draw was a bad result as it snow meant that our fate was not in our hands...we could now win the last 2 games 10 nil and still not make the playoffs!

However, having just looked at the table/fixtures again, I have a sense of renewed optimism, for the following reasons:

- Bolton play Cardiff away on Saturday. If we can beat Watford on Friday this will put huge pressure on Bolton to win away at the league champions who will be buzzing having just won the league. If Bolton lose we go to Forest knowing that a draw will be enough

- If we draw on Friday, we can still make the playoffs. We would need Bolton to lose on Saturday but even if they got a draw we could still leap-frog them on the final day. Unlikely I know as they have Peterborough at home but Peterborough have got some great results against the bigger teams this year

- If we do make the playoffs, we will almost certainly play Watford in the semi-final. If we can beat them on Friday and take that into the playoffs this will help to bridge the confidence gap between the two teams

- I think we'd beat either Brighton or Palace at Wembley

Lots of ifs and buts. One thing is for certain its going to be an exiting finish to the season and I think we will just sneak that 6th place.

Bolton's last game is Blackpool at home not Peterborough

Even better!

Unfortunately Blackpool have nothing to play for and were thumped by Brighton, so i wouldn't expect much when they go to Bolton on the last day. I'd rather Peterborough were playing Bolton. Realistically we have to beat Watford and get a better result against Forest than Bolton do at Cardiff.

Good point Brownsover...

To state the obvious we need to get at least 1 more point than Bolton do over the 2 games!! Hoping the balance swings in our favour again this weekend...if we fail to beat Watford, or Bolton beat Cardiff, it seems we're doomed to another year in the Championship

Millwall losing last night was a good result for us as they are still not safe from relegation and have Forest and Palace as their next two home games.
