Sorry don't watch WWE much nowadays, haven't watched regularly since 2002.
One thing that I think I remember about a pretty stale period was at Summerslam 1995, in the main event, Diesel faced King Mabel and Lex Luger (a face) came out to help Diesel (the main face of the company at the time) and for his troubles, I'm sure Diesel clotheslined him out of the ring (unless I dreamt that). No one ever mentioned it afterwards as Luger left the WWF around that time.
But does anyone remember why Diesel knocked Luger out of the ring when Luger was just trying to help him?
Seemed like a very odd thing to do (especially at that time when faces never beat on each other for no reason).
Before anyone says it, I have tried to google it, but got no info on why this happened.
Does anyone know?

I congratulate myself on such a fantastic article by asking such an imposing question that has left the whole board speechless.

Searched all over for an answer. Couldn't find one.

Yeah, it's a tough one.
Bit like who was supposed to be the higher power of the Ministry of Darkness.
Surely, it wasn't supposed to be Vince.

If I remember correctly . . .
The WWF were dropping serious hints that the British Bulldog was about to turn heel. At the time, the Bulldog was in a tag team with Luger, the Allied Powers.
By association, there were rumours that Luger was also about to turn heel.
Diesel attacked Luger as he thought Luger was about to double cross him.
As it happened, only the Bulldog turned heel and Luger stayed face - Luger left the company not long after.
It was perhaps the first seeds of a Diesel heel turn too - which he cemented when losing the title to Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1995.

They may have won the odd hardcourt title like Courier and Kafelnikov did, but on a fast grass court, their incredibly slow serves and tactics of standing miles behind the baseline just would not have worked.
