Wilkinson for w.c. 2015 ?

Johnny Wilkinson was heralded by the press as a one man team in 200/2003.

As we all know that was complete ballacks, and there were more important players in the team than him such as Martin Johnson, and arguably the likes of Richard Hill, Dayglo, Back, and Jason Robinson.

That said, he was an outstanding player, and one of the most effective 10s there has ever been.

During and after 2003 he suffered from a catologue of injuries which sidelined him for years, and meant that when he did did take the field, he was constrained in the way he could play because of his long term shoulder injury.

If the press is to be believed, his injuries are now finally behind him, and at the age of 33 he is back to his best.

If that is the case, then he will undoubtedly be head and shoulders better than owen Farrell, who England seem to have earmarked as the first choice nr 10 going into the world cup.

Wilko will have turned 36 by the next world cup, which as we all know is old for international rugby. Saying that though he is supremely fit, and other sportsman with the same approach to fitness eg graham gooch and alec stewart have been able to play international sport until they were 40. Bearing in mind his supreme fitness levels, and that other players such as simon shaw have set a precedent for playing international rugby at 36, and bearing in mind that he is head and shoulders better than any other fly half in Europe, should England restore him as first choice fly half with the intention of him leading the back line into the world cup ?
