Who wanted the penalty?

Just wondered if anyone can clear something up for me as in the mad last 2 minutes of the game I didn't catch the finer details...

Did anyone else actually want to take the penalty? Was there a discussion about it?

My opinion immediately afterwards was that Knocky wanted to take it and no one else challenged him. Everyone seems to be saying that Nugent should have taken the penalty...did he even want to? He's said in the past that doesn't like taking penalties.

What I don't understand is why Kingy didn't step up. Am I having an aberration because I could have sworn he used to take them before Wood arrived.

If it came down to Knocky wanting it more, then fair enough. Go with the confident one every time.

I don't think King's ever taken one. Before Wood it was Marshall, and before him Gallagher.

King probably should take them though.

Nugent and King both candidates. But the bottom line is that the penalty should have been taken by the person that wanted to. I don't think Knocky missed coz of pressure, he missed because it was a good save, and these things happen.

I can't believe the amount of stick Knocky has been getting online and around the city since the game. He almost won us the game when it was slipping away, he's a young lad and showed no fear when taking a HUGE penalty. If Nugent or King asked to take the penalty and Knocky refused, kept the ball and missed thy would be a different story...however from what I can gather that wasn't the case.

Didn't the Mercury run an article that City had practiced penalties just in case?

The penalty itself was bloody awful but I don't blame Knocky, I blame him being left footed, I've hated lefties taking penalties since the days of Pearce and Waddle etc!

I dont think it was a bad penalty. He blasted it down the middle, which is pretty much what Gallagher tends to do with his. All you can ask of a penalty taker is that they hit the target with decent power - whatever happens after that is pure luck.

It could have been better, i.e in the corners, but I'd rather he played it safe and made sure he hit the target than missed the target completely.

What happened at Watford, the penalty, the goal immediately afterwards was pure bad luck on the day and I'm proud of the boys for getting in the play offs and showing grit and playing well in the play offs. If only we'd shown the same bottle and desire between February and April.

Ironically, if he had missed the target we would of at least got extra time. Cruel game

Interestingly, the only player left on the pitch that had ever taken a penalty for Leicester was Nugent, and he's only taken the one for us.

I went from delirium to horror in two seconds when I saw Knocky was lining up to take the penalty. No way should he have taken it. I'm not blaming the lad at all by the way - at least he was up for it.

I do wonder though, if Knocky was the only one prepared to take it, who was planning on taking the other 4 penalties if we did go to a shoot-out
