Zebo called up to the Lions squad

Bowe injury means Simon Zebo called up to the squad and on a plane as we speak. While Bowe is set to go under the knife but may still make the test team.

Also, Quade Cooper has been omitted from the wallabies squad. No surprise there really. The Oz management have had it up to the eyeballs with him at this point. However, Beal has been brought back to the squad after being in a drying out center for a couple of weeks.

The omission of cooper makes Oz a more difficult prospect in my opinion. They will be more settled without his negative influence and certainly less prone to making stupid errors.

Ashton is awfull, he lives off the fact that at the start of his career he was able to be on the shoulder of players in dominant sides and run in easy try's.

Will very rarely create anything for himself. If you want someone to run in a straight line unopposed he is pretty handy. Why England pick him is beyond me, they appear to have issues with picking talented wingers, many have been ignored int he past.

Don't know cobnob. his workrate was excellent when he first came along. i mean he popped up everywhere and that for me is why he was running in tries for fun. He's been found out big time defensively not to mention his attitude is suspect. and don't get me started on the "Ash Splash" i know a fair few English lads who cringe with embarrassment when he does that. However I think his problem is most definitely mental. Seems either too stubborn or arrogant to take criticism and work on his deficiencies. Which are, Defence, Kicking, (Important for a Winger in the modern game) and Discipline.

Whatever you think of him, he was great in 2010 because of him, nobody else. As I said though I think his days are over in the elite squad.

Well said Aristo...he was pure class in 2010. He was also pretty useful defensively I don't know what happened to him in that respect lately.

The Ash Splash nonsense made him very unpopular with non-England fans and I can understand that. English players have to go out of their way not to appear arrogant or they'll get that label immediately. It's one of Stuart Lancaster's strength in that no one thinks he's arrogant and so by proxy his team isn't either.

I think Ashton's done as well. There's better, younger guys out there that have more to offer. Shame though because he truly was good when he came on the scene
