Two year anniversary of the worst decision!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13644012

It was 2 years ago today that one of the worst decisions was taken by our football club to sack our now manager (again ) Billy Davies and replace him with the what was to become known as our very own Wolly!

We can see now that the decision (as i said many a time beforehand) would be one of the worst ever as it took us until pretty much February this year when Billy was reappointed for this club to become stable again when at this point 2 years ago we looked like a team that should have been fighting at the top of this decision.

Anyway I know there will be a host of sheep on here like old witches of the west saying "he is bad and all that blah blah blah" but if you listen to them you have something wrong with you.(as for one you would have sacked Brian Clough as he was "outspoken")

Anyway just thought Id post this article pretty much to celebrate the fact we are finally out of the dark times now and that we cannot wait for the new season and hopefully promotion next season!

Come on you Reds!

Billy Davies Red Army!

Whichever way you look at it, Forest finished the season with relegation form. Davies's teams, at Preston, Derby and Forest, have tended to start the season slowly, so it's very possible that the poor run will continue for a few more games yet.

Happily, it isn't as if you have an egotistical trigger-happy owner or anything, who might be inclined to put on his best sacking fez after a few bad results.

The sooner we start judging ourselves on where WE started and finished rather than whether we started/finished higher or lower than Derby the more productive we'll be.

Now, BD is being judged positively because he started below and finished above another team. That's, frankly a ridiculous waste of time. Derby could've had injuries, they could've had a huge slump, they could've been resigned to not making the play-offs and started playing their kids. Meanwhile we overtook them, who cares?

The facts are we had a great run and got into 5th spot and looked to be a team nobody wanted to play. We then won 1 in 8 and finished a spot lower than where we sacked a previous manager from. Thanks for the roller coaster ride but look at that we're back in the traps where the ride started from. Next season I'd prefer a gradual, boring hill climb with a better view at the end of it which is what I was hoping we were on when SOD was in charge.

Not saying BD can't do that but he hasn't yet.

It is terribly funny.

3 out of the last 4 years we have finished above Derby and they laugh at us.

I can see why they have optimism for next year though; their front line between them has bagged 10 goals in the last three seasons in English football

Using Conor Sammon as an example of the optimism: 2010-11 season in the SPL, Conor Sammon bagged a not-too-shabby 18 goals. The three seasons since that accident, he followed it up with a hernia-inducing haul of 10 in England.

Optimism is a cruel mistress

Would that be Henderson?

26 goals in 56 games for his last club. Crap really IMO.... I'd of thought we would of gone for Messi to be honest. Must be all the controversy that is surrounding him at the moment that has stopped us bidding for him

Conor Sammon 10 goals in 77 games.
That's the 6'2" hump-it-to-him-to-head-wide, penalty-taking Conor Sammon.

Commentary from Radio Derby.

"...he's into the penalty area, oh no! penalty! Derby have a penalty!...... this is not good..... Who is taking it? ... oh you have to be kidding.... I don't believe it... Nigel has told Sammon to place the ball on the spot.... he checks where the goal is.... looks at the ground..... looks at the ball.... looks at the keeper... there's just something that tells you he might have got it right this time...... here he comes.... oh buggër! ... yep missed again.... Why didn't we put him back in the sea?...."

vidal, so with nln... what are you looking forward too?

I'm looking forward to that possible small purple patch where clueless nln gets lucky at the early part of the season and you guys start giving it hard in the fields only to realise that, in your excitment ,your juice runs out, too early.
The Red Dogs then arrive to put the sheep in their pens.

I think the best statistic as well is that in a full season wherever he has been Billy has always got a team into the top 6

But wait he failed and NLN's record of moving Derby 6 places in 5 years is clearly a major brilliant achievement which all managers must envy!

SBD were you trying to WUM Derby or Forest fans with this cos I think reading the responses, your people seem a little more WUMmed than ours?
