Realistically, the Community Shield doesn't matter that much and shouldn't affect the league campaign at all.
The significance this year is that it is a Manchester derby and that brings a huge rivalry and a game that matters more than usual.
Will Ferguson try to play some mnid games this year with the City hierarchy?
He is already worried about City's strengthening and sees them as the main challengers for the title.
It will be a very interesting match indeed.
If Mutd put out a slightly weakened team and City win 2-0, will that persuade the City hierarchy that the squad is good enough and we don't need Nasri and another wide man?
If Bobby puts out a team to lose, will he be able to convince his bosses that his squad really does need those extra two players?

To me, this match is a gloryfied friendly. Of course I want us to win, particularly bearing the opposition who have already lost twice as many games at Wembley this year as we've won. But if I'm being totally honest, I'm more excited about the Swansea match

I am going tomorrow and hope to see a good game. I for one will not be reading too much into it, win or lose. Of course I want us to win but I do not feel anything like the tension I had before the semi-final. I just hope nobody gets injured, to be fair on either side, or in the ridiculous friendlies next Wednesday. That has to be the most stupid date for international friendlies.
