Well done India, but...

First of all, it was a great game of cricket. I was hoping for the full 50 overs, but something is better than nothing.

Secondly, well done to England for playing good cricket.

Now, while Team India has every right to celebrate their win and they were the best side in the competition, but I feel there are a few issues need to be addressed:

Rohit Sharma - He has done well, but isn't good enough to be in the side. He is more concerned with "looking good" at the crease than making runs. He drives wide half volley with a vertical bat without any follow through and often the ball does not have enough on it to beat the inner ring. He is also slow in the field and does not know how to slide (a few good catches notwithstanding). His ability to throw away good starts also causes me to question his temperament.

Ishant Sharma - The less said the better. He need to bring his wrist behind the ball, so that he can get some control over his release point. The wrist behind the ball will also straighten the seam causing the ball to land on the seam, which mean more bounce and zip of the track. His wayward seam position scuffs the ball on both side and the ball stops swinging earlier than it otherwise would. He needs to cut his hair so that he can actually see where he is bowling. He is completely blinded after letting the ball go and will drop caught and bowled chances, or worst, get injured by a powerful straight drive.

I know the BCCI have announced to retain the same squad for the WI tour, but we need to shore up the weak links and become the best team we can. The idea of not changing a winning combination is as ludicrous as any idea gets. As they say, if you ain't moving forward, you are going backward.

He didn't have the best tournament with the bat, but other than today, he didn't really spend time in the middle. Even today his role was to hit out or get out so can't blame him. He's an aggressive batsman who we need

Is it just me or does anyone else think Virat Kohli is an arrogant ?

@Singh Saab.. Wow u do seem a real cricket fan till now I have seen here in this site. I do agree with your analysis regarding Ishant sharma and to some extent about Nohit sharma. However, I do disagree with you about his fielding as he his brilliant in that department. In my view he did play quite decent in terms of batting in the champions trophy and lets see in time how he improves although he is very lucky to get so many chances as compared to other cricketers who didn't have that privilege.

@palmers u complaining about Kohli being arrogant but in sports u will encounter many like him. It is not the first time nor it will be the last. For me if a player performs and stays in his limit, then I don't care whether he is arrogant or saint. You will find hard to see players like dravid, sachin etc who are extremely decent on the field or off the field. In the meantime enjoy the game and every different shade of players all over the world.

@ palmers yes Kohli can rub people the wrong way, but he has improved immensely in the past two years. I have seen him convert from a very hot headed bottom hand slogger to somewhat calm top order batsman. His future is bright. He is going to be the future India captain.

I see that most people disagree with me about Rohit Sharma's fielding, but you only have to look at the manner in which he was chasing the ball.

Indian team has much work to do to reestablish its credibility in test cricket that took heavy beating after losing 8 consecutive matches overseas and also losing to England at home. I can't give them full credit for beating Australia in the most recent test series at home. Aussies seemed hell bent on self-destruction.

I think rohit sharma is a cracking player. I think ever game apart from the England game he pit up a decent opening stand with shika. Cant ask for more than that

Reina is a hard one as hes hardly had a bat and when called upon it was just wack it asap.

never really like ishant but he has produced during the ipl and took the 2 important wickets.

Raina is important player and adds value to the team...do you really watch cricket ? how you came to conclusion he is the team only because of fielding? He simply never had to bat in this tournament so what you expect? when he was in y'day we needed quick run so he went for it.

Can you point me where I concluded/mentioned above. Or You're just delusional? All I asked what was his contribution besides being the best fielder. Go back and read my post again. Still in doubt, ask any kinder garter.

Raina's contributions with the bat in England (including the practice games)

@singh Saab

I take your points but I do not agree with them.

Rohit Sharma has had an excellent tournament with 2 hundred partnerships and 2 fifty partnerships. Complimented Dhawan very well and believe this is the future opening partnership for a long time to come. Always believed that Rohit should open for India and has had a great start with this tournament.
He is an exceptional fielder, but if you are comparing him to Jadeja, Kohli and Raina then may be not. India's fielding in the tournament was by far the best than any other team.

Ishant Sharma - we all know he is going to leak runs because he is an attacking bowler but he takes wickets at crucial times and that's what Dhoni's wants him to do. He basically won the final for us for the 2 in 2. It was not luck, it was good thinking from both captain and Sharma, slower ball and fast bouncer.

This team cannot be changed really, they have come to England and smashed everyone in sight, with relative ease. When they were under pressure from England they dug deep and won the game.

If they continue playing good positive cricket and keep everyone fit then the 2015 World Cup will belong to India aswell.

Chak de India.....
