Time is a funny old thing. It can be right or wrong depending on who is late for work. Some countries do not have a legal definition of time so workers can show up whenever they feel like.

In Canada, the legal definition of 60 seconds is a “Minute”, and 90 seconds is a “Vettel. The lap record for Canada was officially timed at 0.81 Vettels.

Time can also be won or lost. For example a race starting under safety car conditions hands an advantage in time to the pole sitter – this is know as time won. Red Flagging a race because of undrivable conditions can also give an advantage to the race leader as he might have crashed otherwise. Restarting the race again under a safety car again gives the race leader a clear advantage over all those behind him.
