Things appear to be hotting up a bit.
Amid the rumours that Arsenal are considering a move for our beloved Benteke, Spurs want to start the bidding war.
AVB has told Levy that Benteke is the man they need to go alongside Paulinho (spelling) and make Spurs serious title contenders (considering SAF's departure) if not, the 4th Champions league spot theirs. The opening gambit is rumored to be iro - £21m; smashing Spurs only recently broken transfer record.
Have they got the cash?
I think it's lazy journalism personally and a signal of intent to the likes of Bale that they want top singings.
I'm not sitting comfortably with this however, if Benteke does go, I want it to be abroad.
Hope he stays.
Spurs want Benteke!

The Villa fans have been awfully quiet on this article today, which is weird seeing how vocal they were on the subject before.

No point keeping a player who doesn't want to stay e.g. Modric, same for Benteke, if he asked to leave then hewill drop his performances if he is forced to stay or priced out of a move. The reson i don't think the same applies to Bale as there is not a single quote from the player that he wants out, in fact it's the opposite, he only praises the club for what they have done for him and how he is happy.

I rushed writing the above, hence the spelling and broken sentences, i think you all understand what point i'm making

Full back
I agree to a degree but some players have performed after wanting to leave their respective club, including Modric, Ronaldo, Fabregas and i think even Henry.
Its a dangerous game trying to force them to stay because whilst there has been "professionals" like the names i mention above, you can always get a "Berbatov" scenario where the player goes on strike - then your club has problems.

I agree Chicken, i guess it depends on the player, not looking promising for Villa at the moment though from the quotes i've read.

Spurs are very fortunate that everything seems to align with Bale.
Happy to be around his family relations, and in his personal life. A sweet spot in his age where barring career-ending injury, he still has plenty of time to move upwards if he is looking for a lot more money and/or winners medals as a club player.
Sad that Benteke is not similarly at peace with his current lot.

Bumble,
Benteke will probably leave after next season to a Champions League Club and that certainly won't be Spurs.

What do you make of the Benteke's (alleged) comments that he would prefer a move to Spurs?
