F1 Grosser Preis Deutschland Race Thread

Ladies and Gentlemen, hello and welcome to ManUtdDaredevil’s official Formula 1 Grosser Preis Santander von Deutschland 2013. Ja, es ist !! Silverstone was an enjoyable race albeit with safety issues but the finger breaking his car was beautiful to see

This race is generally exciting with Hamilton winning the last race here in 2011 and with Mercedes improving on tyre degradation, I wouldn’t rule out a first win for him for Mercedes in Germany. Let’s not forget the German duo of Rosberg and the Finger who have got home advantage. Pirelli have blamed everyone but themselves for the tyre failures but finally cooler heads have prevailed. Pirelli are also bringing the medium and soft race tyres for this race. So let's begin;

A Few Facts
Did you know that Germany has hosted a record 73 rounds of the Formula One world championship or that Michael Schumacher’s victories alone would put German drivers third in the all-time wins list?
Germany has hosted a record 73 rounds of the world championship - 59 as the German Grand Prix, 12 as the European Grand Prix and two as the Luxembourg Grand Prix.

There are four German drivers on the current grid (Sebastian Vettel, Adrian Sutil, Nico Rosberg and Nico Hulkenberg) - the same number as both Great Britain and France.

The most recent German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring took place in 2011 and was won by Lewis Hamilton for McLaren. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was second and Red Bull’s Mark Webber was third.

Fernando Alonso has the best record of any current driver in Germany. The Spaniard has won the German Grand Prix three times, the same number of times as Juan Manuel Fangio, Jackie Stewart, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna. He’s also won twice at the Nurburgring (in 2005 and 2007 when it held the European Grand Prix). Mark Webber (2009) and Lewis Hamilton (2008, 2011) are the only other current drivers to have won either in Germany or specifically at the Nurburgring.

Germany must be Kimi Raikkonen’s most unlucky country to compete in. The Finn has raced there 16 times but has never won and has retired from the German Grand Prix on six occasions.

I was watching the timing, Lewis just couldn't compete with RB, Ferrari and Lotus. He gained two places through RB not putting Webber's tyres on and Massa spinning out.
I would say he was around 3/4 of a second off the race pace. Just look at what Rosberg did. It's a shame because Mercedes could really spice things up if they sorted the deg.

Indeed, it would be great if people could actually take points off Vettel but the other guys just take points off each other, allowing Vettel to increase his lead in the championship

Breaking News:

Red Bull excluded from the German GP and banned from the Hungarian GP for allowing Webber to leave without all wheels attached.

Yeah^^ I do expect a pretty severe fine though.

It's not Webber's fault, a fine should be sufficient

Ah, he had the best car and the better pit crew.

Both mattered today.

Brave fight from Hamilton, as usual but let's be honest, it was all over by the first corner.

Even so, still a great week-end of sport for the British.

I can't help feeling there hould be a fair sized St George's Cross on that Red Bull!

Indeed, British Engineering at it's finest

RedBull and Force India have been fined for unsafe pit releases.
Red Bull were fined €30,000 after the right-rear tyre from Mark Webber’s car became detached as the Australian left his pit box. The errant tyre subsequently bounced down the pit lane before striking an FOM cameraman who was treated at the circuit’s medical centre before being helicoptered to Koblenz Hospital for observation.

Force India, meanwhile, were given a €5,000 fine after releasing Paul di Resta into the path of Toro Rosso’s Jean-Eric Vergne.
