TOMLINSON RETIRES

Stuart Tomlinson has been forced to retire at the age of 28 with a knee ligament injury . I hope i speak for the majority of Albion fans who will miss his commanding presence ,organisational skills ,and shot stopping . Its a big blow for Gary to have to now look for a replacement . Im slightly relieved that Atkins has gone on loan to Alfreton for the season mind so we now either promote Lyness as our no 1 ,or bring in a genuine challenger . Has Legzdins got fixed up yet ??

Big blow this, for Tomlinson particularly and also for you... By all accounts he made a big difference last season, even if he did look a bit dodgy in the playoffs.

Legzdins is still available (surprisingly) - cough up £150k and he's yours... It's about time you spent some of that healthy bank balance!

Yes, a real shame for Tommo. He probably had at least 10 years left in the game. It was a cruel twist of fate that his injury was sustained against Port Vale aswell.

This is turning out to be a bad summer so far.

I have just had a strange thought. If we don't bring any players in I wonder if there might be a u-turn on the Aaron and Macca decisions.

Players are out there Otep ,and you know what they say , never go back !! Aaron and Macca will always be remembered by brewers fans but there is no sentiment in football . As for £150k ?! for Legzdins id make a cheeky offer to nigel and see if he bites !

Weird as it might sound but I think I would be more enthused by Aaron or Macca signing than those we have signed so far.

I still can't believe we signed Macdonald.

Really disappointed for Tommo, made a huge difference when he came in last season, and I met him after the Dagenham home game and he was an absolute gent, smashing fella. Hope that it all goes well for his rehabilitation and his future modellng career!

Legz would be amazing, but I don't believe he would return.

I still can't believe we signed Symes!

Still no news on Matt Paterson - he hasn't signed for anyone else, do you think it's just down to contract talks?

I read that Aaron is on trial at Alfreton Town.

I don't think it would take much of a fee to get Legzdins, we need to trim our squad and he's been made available with 1 year remaining on his contract, as he doesn't want to stay as a no.2. Shame as he's unquestionably a decent keeper - excellent shot stopper, just a few questionable decisions with crosses (particularly from corners) is all that lets him down.

Whether he'd be happy to drop back to League 2 is another question entirely.

I think Legzdins would be a very good signing ,providing he accepts it has not quite worked out at championship level, and is prepared to lower his sights but maybe Gary doesnt want him !!
