Coady

Couldn't see this mentioned anywhere on the board so thought I'd share...

Coady has joined Sheffield United on a six month loan deal. Good move for the lad and I hope he gets a fair few games.

Interesting to see what this means for the first team. Will Spearing be kept as Lucas' understudy (I doubt so if Rodgers only saw fit to send him on loan to a Championship side last season)? If wee Jay is sold does Rodgers think we have enough cover in the centre of the park with Allen, Henderson and possibly Alberto fighting it out for the CM position not already taken by Lucas and Gerrard? Does this pave the way for the return of a club legend tough tackling defensive midfielder? (Biscan)

You decide...

I am sure we will sign another DM.

Spearing will leave and with Coady out on loan we will be desperately short in that area.

What DM is out there?

Could it be - I'm guessing - Coady goes to L1 this season and Championship next? Slow development?

possibly Jimmy,

but then again i am still struggling to see the benefit in that, as by then we could have any number of youngsters coming through and he never gets a chance as he is elsewhere.

No idea Kash, I'm not a scout.

I bet we sign one though.

Remember it's only a six month deal. If he shines in L1 then I'm sure there will be plenty of Championship clubs looking to acquire his services in January.

Unfortunately though, I can't see Coady ever being anything more than another Jack Hobbs or Danny Guthrie. Decent Championship or lower Premier League players

You might be right Deans nephew but I don't see anything wrong with that.

Selling academy players keeps the academy ticking over so we can sign more Ibe's and Sterlings.

It's about producing footballers, not just Liverpool players.

I once read a figure that arsenal earn about 15mill a year from academy sales and sell on clauses.

While that's not a huge amount of money it does buy you quite a few decent kids, and it keeps the academy ticking over, realistically on average the academy will AT BEST produce you one good player a year, selling other players enables the production line to continue.

One comment I would make is that Sheffield Utd are a very big club in League 1 terms, he'll be playing in a team where there is pressure to win every game in front of close to 20,000 expectant fans.

Dealing with expectation is a big part of a footballers make up and maybe in that sense Sheff Utd is a decent option?

Think I'd have preferred a Championship team overall (general quality of opposition) but this is a nice silver lining.

good for him. i hope he makes thier team and shows work ethic, consistency and is head and shoulders above others.

as an england u20 player he should be really bossing this.

dean is right the jury is out here. coady stalled and i think he's a spearing. there are lots of guys like him out there. he could make it if he really shows something here.
