can 360 read 64gb usb stick?

Before I buy something that won't work, can anyone on here tell me if the Xbox 360 can read a 64gb memory stick? I know it's limited to 32gb for official purposes, but would it be able to access all 64gb for films and music? If not, would a partition work?

It will read the 64gb stick but you will only be able to use/see 31.5gb of it

Their solution is to deal with it and buy an expensive "official drive"

No. Maximum the 360 can 'see' is 32GB. Also, it will reserve 512mb for system use.

Thanks Simon, and Vivec, VERY much appreciated!

Thanks also lefty, I have a 500GB drive too, and the Xbox doesn't even acknowledge it's plugged in, let alone try and read it! Very poor from Microsoft there.

The 32GB limit is apparently because the xbox only reads fat32 partitions. In theory you can create a larger fat32 partition with something like Partition Magic, but I haven't tried that yet. I will update when I get home and try that... unless someone already has.

Just for anyone who's interested, I tried a 64GB USB stick last night, and the Xbox was able to read all the files on it. I guess the 32GB limit is when you want to use it for official storage purposes, not for pics or video or music or whatever. (I didn't need to format it differently, just FAT32 straight out the box). Hope someone else finds this useful.

Interesting Forest and thanks for the update - though it would be interesting to put put say more than 33gb of stuff on and see if it is all readable, only problem there is fat 32 which means files less than 4gb so could be more hassle than its worth!
