Can we have a sensible debate, can we?
So I am arguing that as of "right now" Liverpool can compete for this seasons CL place because arsenal, the squad in 4th place is not better than Liverpool, or only marginally better than Liverpool. Remember this is NOT based on last seasons squad but this seasons squad.
I will list my combined team, as honest as I can....I hope this shows how close the 2 teams are RIGHT NOW, hopefully this will entice a discussion on why I believe we can compete with arsenals, and it should also show that arsenal are not as strong as people make out.
My combined team;

Johnson...Toure/Kos..Agger...gibbs
Walcott...carzola..gerrard...podolski
................suarez lfc...sturridge.........
Brief reasons;
Gk....obvious
Defence...sanga was better, 3yrs ago..not now, agger is class, is kos better than toure? To me too cose to call, picked gibbs due to enrique being to one footed.
Midfield...arsenal wingers offered more, carzola played 38 games to coutinhos 13, so should go in, although coutinho is good. Gerrard, so what he is old...was awesome last year and has the stats to prove it...again
Attack.....suaez, nuff said. Studge, 11 goals in 14 starts (?) I think and several assists, out scores and out paces giroud etc
So thats,,,,,7 lfc players in my combined, now even to me that looks far too many!!! But it is my honest opinion, you may disagree and thats fine....please tell me why? And saying "we finished 4th you didnt" is a crock of sht, why? Because its a diferent squad now and we will have sturidge, kelly, coutinho, mignolet, aspas, alberto, toure, ibe for the full season unlike last season.
Id like sensible remarks.....but I bet I dont get em!!

Got to laugh when I see Toure over Koscielny. Weak at left back? If you don't watch us play there's no point doing one of these.
I'm sure Mignolet wasn't rated this highly a few weeks ago?
This team is designed to play like Arsenal, so naturally it will be slightly biased.

Supporters including those of Arsenal and Liverpool have always got rose tinted opinions about their team.
The league next season at the top will be a lot closer
than many assume. Yes Man City have bought a lot
of new players and may continue to do so, but that
does not mean that they are better than at other
clubs or will adapt.
Personally I believe that Chelsea may finish above them. They have a successful manager and a team/
squad which was refreshed last season and is now
bedded in.
Manchester United may struggle. I believe still that the
X factor which won them the League was Ferguson.
Personally I don't think their squad is special and Van
Persie after two very good years at 30 may not be
the player he was, because of his history of injuries.
Arsenal are better than most Liverpool supporters give
them credit for. Modern Football is a squad game and
it is not just about 1st X1. You need to look at bench
as well and we do have quite a lot of depth. The squad is perhaps short of two top starting X1 players
and a couple of squad players.
I am not going to comment on Liverpool, because I
have not seen enough of them play, but they finished
the season 12 points [four victories] behind us and
Arsenal's end of season was as strong as any team in
League.
Leaving aside Suarez I am pretty sure that Arsenal will be buying players in this transfer window so that
you need to judge the merits of both clubs not on paper but how they perform on pitch.

Szeszney was dropped a few times last season and was slated by your own fans wasn't he? Koscielny makes too many mistakes for me, like Skrtel. Glad somebody put in Monreal over Gibbs but can't believe you've got both Gerrard and Wilshere on the bench.
