So I come back from holiday to read the following:
on Van Persie’s injury…
It is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is. Gibbs has a muscular [thigh] problem and Vermaelen has a slight back problem.
After two draws in the Emirates cup, a loss to Benfica and Cesc with one foot out the door I just can't buy into Wenger saying that transfers take time. Yes, they do but when you spot something you really need/want then money solves the issue.
Anyone else quite concerned about the strength of our team this year??

Well as for pre-season friendlies, I take them with a bucket of salt, never the best to base assumptions on those games. The game on Saturday against Benfica was a run out. The 1st 45 mins seemed to be taken fairly seriously and the 2nd half was a mish-mash of fringe players & waifs & strays!
But that aside, yup, I'm a worried man.
The club captain in limbo and seemingly not involved (don't by the "injury" story, like anyone else). Nasri up in the air as to what's happening there.
No replacement for Clichy. And basically all of the usual problems that should have been sorted by now (defence, cover/competition for Alex Song), blah blah blah... I won't go on.
For me the board and the manager need to pull some incredible deals (in and out) out of the bag, because the activity in the market has been woeful & negligent. And whilst I like to be optimistic & hate all this whinging, in this instance I think the fans have every right to feel short-changed! And the uttering from board level seem to show an acute apathy towards fans who are having to pay higher prices than ever to support their club!

yeah, I'm concerned. We all knew we finished last season with the need to improve, even Wenger stated this in the post-match interview in our last game of the season. And in my view we seem worse off.
2 players that have left and 5 players looking to leave. with just two in!
