Rogan to take on Chisora?

Britain’s Dereck Chisora (19-4, 11 KO’s) will be fighting in only two months on September 21st in London, UK, and he badly needs an opponent for that fight date. Although Chisora mentioned Kubrat Pulev and Deontay Wilder as two fighters he wouldn’t mind fighting on September 21st, it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t have a chance in a million to get either of those talents to fight on short notice in his home country.

With the controversy that surrounds Chisora’s win over Malik Scott last Saturday, there’s no way I could see Wilder or Pulev willing to go to the UK to fight Chisora.

Well, there is one fighter that’s willing to take him on and that’s 42-year-old Martin Rogan (16-4, 8 KO’s), but he’s talking about wanting Chisora to fight him in Belfast, Northern Ireland rather than Chisora’s home city of London.

Rogan said to Boxing-ireland.com “His [Chisora] record is no further on than mine. He’s landed a couple of good fights. He showed good skills [against Malik Scott]. It’s a fight that would be good for the public."

This might be the best option Chisora has for September because I don’t see him getting Wilder or Pulev to say yes. 42-year-old Audley Harrison also has thrown his hat into the ring and is reportedly interested in facing Chisora. Other than those 42-year-olds, Chisora’s promoter might be able to lures the likes of Kevin Johnson, Vinny Maddalone for Nicolai Firtha over to the UK to fight Chiosora.

Sure, it wouldn’t be a fight against a big name, but it depends on what Chisora’s promoters’ idea of what a big name is. Some people think Audley is a big name, and maybe there are some people who see Kevin Johnson as a big name.

Do you think there is one last fight in the tank for Ireland's best fighting cabbie?

Rogan is done for, backward step for Del Boy.

Wilder came across for Audley.

Usually some boxers say, it don't matter who the ref is as long as he can count to ten, but even that ain't a certainty anymore.

Somebody like Charr would maybe be up for it, one thing I'll say for Charr is he always seems game.

Mind you, I just checked, and it seems he's on the Haye v Fury undercard

Wilder would ko chisora in a few rounds IMO, but there is nothing to gain from chisora fighting rogan

I think its a case of late notice heavyweights though, and probably someone that doesnt need to travel to keep costs to a minimum and keep Chisora busy, so Audley based in USA is out of the equation, as for Firtha, and Charr I just cant see them travelling either.

Leaves a few domestic fighters left, Price is a definate NO....kinda leaves Sexton, Rogan and Skelton et al...the old brigade willing to take a quick few quid for a night infront of a big audience..

Chisora really could do with fighting a name at this time, it would be a huge step back for him to fight some past it tomato can.

I might get shot down for suggesting this one, but wha about chagaev?

I'm sure I read he was supposed to be in talks with Pulev who is fighting Thompson now and he hasent fought since march.

Former WBA champ and is ranked fairly highly by all the belts, might be difficult to get him over, however it would be a big win for whoever one it and they would both surely be looking to the fact that vitali should now be stripped meaning there is a belt out there up for grabs.
