Tommy Morrison passes away

Aged 44.

Former world heavyweight champ Tommy "The Duke" Morrison died yesterday from AIDS.

Morrison tested positive for the HIV virus back in 1996 during an NSAC pre fight test.

Morrison claimed he was cured of the virus, and it was a false positive because he took steroids.

Morrison also co-stared in Rocky V, as Rocky's protege, who becomes world champion.

Morrison was involved is some great fights also, I highly recommend Morrison vs Ruddock, where Morrison shows why he was known as one of the best left hookers in heavyweight boxing.


44, such a young age for anybody to die, sadly too many boxers die young and/or live out their last years in poverty.

So the HIV positive was incorrect and then after that he got Aids?

Sad news nevertheless.

Morrison claimed he had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, not HIV, but his mother said last month in was in the final stages of full blow AIDS.


He could not get licensed to fight in America with HIV

I never really followed him as a boxer but he was in rocky V and i watched that
