Look at your best team

Its made up of relegation fighters a 3rd tier player and a guy who will sadly probably never play at the top level again.

This we are expected to believe is good enough to qualify for a major competition.

It should be able to at least challenge and not finish 4th-bottom.

Henrik I don't think Hutton was ever a 9m player was big Eck got a great season from him and Walter got an excellent season from him , his 1st season in England was pretty good then he got injured and a change of manager didn't help, he is a pretty average player now

Agreed fingers, I think we can forget about major tournaments for the time being lets just not get played of the park with the likes of fookin Wales ffs
We should be competing in groups under burley and avril we were not at the races which is shocking when you see what we chez has done in a short space of time with the same bunch of players

We need to get results agasint the big sides and group favourites, but more importantly, we need to getr esults in the games agasint the sides that we dont get fired up to play against.

Scotland 1-1 Macedonia
Scotland 0-0 Serbia
Scotland 1-2 Wales
Scotland 2-2 Czech Republic
Lithuania 0-0 Scotland
Georgia 2-0 Scotland
Scotland 0-1 Belarus
Scotland 0-0 Slovenia

These are the results down the years that have cost us the most imo......particularly that 2-0 defeat in Georgia, the way results panned out, that cost us our place at Euro 2008 that defeat did.

We went and beat France on their own patch, but lost a stupid game in a silly strip to Georgia, meaning we had to beat Italy at home to stand a chance, which we didnt.

We need to win these games, every one of them.
doesnt take a maricale to get better results thatn this in these games surely, just better tactics, an injection of effort and no half arsedness, and some fire in the belly!!

mulgrew is a better defender than grant hanley FFS

overall, the team is pash

in fairness to walter as manager of scotland, he took over when 1 coampaign was practically dead and buried

he then left halfway through the next one for a bigger and better job

mcleish done well imo

the appointment of george burley totally fakked things right up. he was an utter embarrassment of a manager and his side kicks of butcher and pressley

Everyone is forgetting one big aspect of out national team

"CALL OFFS"

Walter and mcleish were very defensive but they got the job done in most games. We have a bit of attacking flair about us now and are even playing an attacking player behind the striker.

Which is an awful lot better than Levein and burley was it not Levein who invented the 5:5 formation

I think both Walter and Eck had a better squad to pick from.

We have some good players at the moment but they're all goalies and midfielders. Walter and Eck had a spine through the team with Gordon in goal, Weir marshalling the defence, Ferguson and Fletcher in the midfield (Hartley was good at that time too) and on form and fit McFadden and Miller up front.

Now we are picking Blackburn and Norwich defenders along with League 1 and Championship strikers.

There is a difference there.

In saying that, Strachan is doing pretty well with what he has. He is not afraid to play our attack minded and pacier players.

I still think our lack of technique is a big problem. We still give the ball away too much from misplaced passes, bad crosses, missed tackles etc where top 20-30 sides wouldn't so much. Unfortunately that's probably just down to ability levels of the squad and like I said Strachan is certainly doing well with what he has got.
