Yet another game we have handed to our opponenents down to a sending off ! . Ok it could be argued that Sharps sending off was harsh ,but today Holness apparently kicked out at his opponent . I will be interested to hear our managers take on things , but im sure he is furious that again his team has had to play for over an hour, a man short . We need to look at ourselves, and try and not do stupid stuff that is costing us dear! . Referees need to take some of the blame though as they get influenced by crowds chanting OFF OFF OFF im sure
, and yellow cards seem to get forgotten about in all the red mist . All it does is ruin the game as a spectacle , and players have to be sacrificed to ensure cover in the area you are left short . Maybe it will balance out over the season as Rochdale , and Portsmouth had players dismissed against us in home games !! . Im just so gutted that we are going through this horrible spell of form , with players getting sent off and lady luck deserting us , but maybe i need to have a reality check as i said last week , and forget promotion and just concentrate on getting to 50+ points for the season and survival .
ARE WE DISCIPLINED ENOUGH ?

The big problem is we started of the season with a full team , with players such as Delap, Sharps, Kee, Hussey, Weir and now Holness. Who are all first team players are dropping out of the team for different reasons. This has had a massive impact on the Brewers. How are they ever going to gel with all that going on. Each time we lose a player it weakens the team.
We all know that if this team were all available they could be mixing at the top of league 2 , but its just not happening at the moment.
The player that did worry me pre season for losing his rag was Howe, but thank god he has proved me wrong so far.
GR has a headache on his hands and needs to regroup with who still remains available.

Football is a weird game nowadays. All week I have heard of a Chelsea crisis and how good Liverpool are. Tonight on 6-0-6 on Radio 5 we had Chelsea fans happy at being top of the league and Liverpool fans moaning about losing today.
I dare say we will 3 on the bounce soon and this will be a distant memory.
GR worked out that leaving Weir out was a bad move. He worked out that Howe wasn't on fire. Next I hope he works out (after another reminder today) that Pickford is not the best 'keeper at the club.

Not often i go to away games these days but as i had a free Saturday i thought i would.
For me.....2 mistakes cost us this game.
The first was the obvious stupidity from someone who should know better. I truly hope this sees him shoved down the pecking order to think hard about what an idiot he was yesterday.
yes the guy made a meal of it but he wandered over with intent to get involved and very forcibly shoved the guy over.
no arguments.
Even with that we rarely looked troubled and nicked a scrappy goal from a corner.
A fumble by Pickford from a deflected shot the only slight danger.
Queue decisive moment 2.
Ardley makes what looks like a standard half time sub. Left back for left back, like for like.
On came Arthur.....i commented to a friend that this fella looked a handful even just by looking at him.
They kicked off and 2 seconds later he was already up alongside Edwards.
Not long after, a marauding run at a hapless Edwards......cross 1-1. Saw it coming.
Gary didn't. Do we not scout?
Eventually after a couple more attacks by Arthur, bypassing Macca and terrorising Edwards, the change was made.
Dyer for Macca.......one thought......to protect Edwards.
Not long after.....Dyer sucked into the centre of the pitch......drilled ball to the gap he left.....to Arthur.......running at Edwards.....again.
If Dyer was sent on to stop this guy.......then it was tactical ineptness at its worst. If he wasn't.....then the same.....but from Gary.
My memory fails me as to how many times this guy ran and beat Edwards. He also drew a superb save from Pickford who seems the type of David James keeper. Odd world class save followed by a clanger.....as seen with their 2nd.
Overall a tough one with 10 men but until that change, no danger and i have to admit to being both surprised, annoyed and worried that Rowett had no answer to it.
Feel for Lyness and indeed Knowles debut being cut short by Holness' immaturity.
One final thought.
Please please get a pacey, hungry, young striker in on loan and allow Palmer the chance to get on the pitch, on the ball and thread passes not hoofs to our frontmen.

Excellent report Lilly ! what you said was pretty much spot on . We are sliding down the table with alarming speed .Its no coincedence for me that Delap and Hussey have been injured during this slump of form .We need to regroup , and focus on getting three points from a side above us next weekend . i would bring Lyness back personaly ,hopefully Delap will be fit , Edwards will slot into the middle with Zander for one game . Midfield i would play Hussey , Weir , and Palmer with three up front Knowles , Symes and Howe

Thanks for that Lilly, good stuff. To me there isnt a discipline problem and there will never be one with GR in charge he showed his ruthless side in the closed season and i dont think it will ever change.Key players being missing is the problem and i expect 2 loan signings this week to bolster up where we are struggling possibly 2 defenders looking at the Wombles goals we conceded and Deano back in goals. Not a panic yet but we need a win on Saturday thats a certain fact.

Stuart 4, I think your correct that sending offs do tend to even themselves out.
Yes losing defenders doesn't help the cause especially when you sacrifice a attacker.
A worry for me is the lack of goals coming from the forward line.
We are conceding too many and certainly aren't scoring enough.
To me Rene Howe needs to step up his contribution and earn his money.
No need for alarms yet as I think our squad is very good.
Just need them to gel as a team.

A very quick point.
As we know the way a referee sees a incident differs from match to match.
Having just read the report on bbc sport it appears Holness raised his hands to a opponent the same way Kitson of Oxford did to Sharps a few weeks ago.
Totally different outcome.
Referee inconsistency doesn't help anyone's cause.

Was completely fed up after watching yet another below par performance and more stupidity from Holness. Until the red card we had made a decent start after this the Wombles 'battered' us.
Lily is spot on with everything she says. Edwards had a torrid time and I have not seen anything in Pickford that would make me want to pick him over Lyness.
I was very disappointed with some of GR's signings in the summer, MacDonald and Knowles never ever gave me any confidence. Was happy we got Howe, but he's nothing more than a plodder. Knowles cannot be faulted as he's doing his best - which is not quite up to scratch yet and although Edwards is a good defender, Saturday showed he is hopeless against pace. Reed imho has been a complete disaster and is nowhere near L2 standard. Add to that trying to shoehorn an impressive young Palmer into a side that should have Weir and Bell at the centre of everything and I don't think GR has quite got it right yet.
Lily - "Please please get a pacey, hungry, young striker in on loan and allow Palmer the chance to get on the pitch, on the ball and thread passes not hoofs to our frontmen" - Matt Paterson would be a perfect fit then?
Gutted with three losses in a row, would never have happened last season, but we must continue and allow Gary every opportunity to get this squad firing again, I believe he will be very busy in the next transfer window as quite simply I think he has been let down.
