Sacked by Chairman, or Player Power

So, our old adversary PDC has been sacked by his Chairman Ellis Short, but it remains unclear as to exactly why,

!) Poor results

2) Being beaten by the club one league place above so convincingly, although WBA were far from good.

3) Confronting the supporters, well those that were left at the end of the game.

4) As a result of a training ground bust up on Sunday morning where it is alleged he said he was trying to purge his players of their imperfections

5) Another altercation with the forth and match day ref last week when he basically invited trouble by asking to be sent to the stands.

6) After spending £19M in the summer on Championship quality players on big wages the club is worse than Martin O'Neills side which he ridiculed, sold and dismantled.

Take your pick, but my money is on the altercation and bust up with the players on Sunday morning in training was the final straw, in a catalogue of horrors which he has subjected this club to since his arrival.
Obviously Premier League players have more clout and power than any one single manager. He should have learned his lesson by now, but obviously he hasn't. His dismissal will now no doubt leave a lot of smiling faces this morning, Martin O'Neill who he ridiculed among them no doubt.
It goes to show that dictatorship, bullying and being a self centred self riotous git does not always work, and money doesn't buy success, no matter how many players it involves.

Yes George,
Silly of me. I don't suppose he will be living anywhere near Sunderland this winter! The annoying thing is that their supporters have to heat their house & pay a high price to watch their club, which is now built on sub-standard players signed by, IMO, a charlatan who got too big for himself. I respect the Sunderland fans. They were excellent when we beat them at Wembley. They didn't deserve a pratt like that in charge. The poor guy taking over has a huge task to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I wonder where DiC will go now.

All the Sunderland fans I have met are very passionate, but down to earth at the same time Red - good luck to them.

Hello JFDI - nice of you to join us! How am I feeling about tonight's game?....pessimistic tbh. When Chelsea second XI contains the likes of Mata, it's a rather tall order...! Chelsea don't seem prone to suffering upsets - too much depth. Barnsley spring to mind, but nothing apart from that (?). We've been rattling the goals in, so might get on the scoresheet, but we're equally porous at the back - I'd expect you to bag a few. Ba's a terrific player for my money, and if he plays he could have a field day. Enjoy the match!

Well if it's any consolation I was at Barnsley when we lost so you never know, that may work in your favour. I am looking forward to it tonight, I hope it is enjoyable for all

Welcome JFDI.

Fifty years ago almost to the day I saw Swindon beat Tommy Docherty's team 3-0...Bonnetti, Harris brothers, Hollins,Tambling etc who went on to be such a great team in the 60s and 70s. I'm not expecting a repeat but I think it'll be a good game. It's a great opportunity for us to show that although we're at a lower level we try to play the game in the right way.

Enjoy the game.

Although it is fair to say that I was no megga fan of PDC he does have some(not many I grant you, good qualities) I have read a good article on him by the Beeb,

There is a fine line in between madness and shear genius, and some may point to Alex Fergusons hair drier approach as a demonstration to that testimony.
A good read, mis understood genius, or pure idiot, make up your own mind, but, a good player and not too many of those make good managers. One thing he obviously doesn't understand is that we are all different, and the British culture like's ketchup, easy as that.

Madness & genius? I suppose Hitler could be described as such.

I thought you played really well last night against a much changed but let's face it still extremely strong Chelsea team. I thought your team was well organised and aquited themselves really well, particularly your keeper and your diminutive number 11. Your pitch looked really well prepared as well. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Well the fall out has fallen and the dust has settled. While Swindon Town succumbed to a very talented Chelsea side, all £180+Million of it, Sunderland picked themselves up and won against the very quick and slick Peterborough side who this season have refused to take prisoners. Essentially the same group of players went out for the club, the stand-in manager and themselves and worked so very hard they managed to score twice. I'll bet PDC is sick to the back teeth, Town, acquitting themselves so very well and playing the best footie for over twenty years, and his old lot, turning it on and putting themselves through to the next round of the cup. PDC, you became a victim of your own making, treat players like you did and you receive the fitting response. Take away the ketchup, and you take away an Englishman's blood. We don't all love pasta you know, get to learn that, and the hidden secret of Yorkshire puddings, yummy mate, pure yummy. I think he needs to find an old Italian tank, so he can use some of the reverse gears to change his philosophies. lol.

An old soldier, told me that Italian tanks had only 4 gears. One forward & three in reverse. Unlike the German ones. Mind you, he, as a driver of one of ours came across a German Tiger tank in the bocage facing the other way. A chance to kill? No he used reverse gear to sod off.
The DiC has a big mouth & uses it. Makes him headlines, but doesn't impress colleagues.
