Music Played At Your First Match

While JA606 has been away I've had a bit of time on my hands and spent some of this time reading old programmes and putting all my music onto my computer. . . . . . . . which made me think about the first match I ever went to and the music that was playing at that match.

Now, me being old and decrepit some of you will not remember this - but it is forever imprinted on my memory - "Sherry" by Franki Valli and The Four Seasons - it was in October 1962 and we played Aston Villa - it was a 0-0 draw and I was taken by my dad. I was frozen - decided that I didn't like football . . . . . . . and the rest is history. Been an Owl from that day on.

Wondered if any of you have got similar memories of your first match and music.

Kitty,
Was your"e first match a night match?.
If it was i think it was my first game too, cant remember much about it , just that my dad and me were on the front row of the cantelever stand(north stand),and it was perishing cold.
That got me the owls bug and i cant shake it of to this day.

Another 'old 'un' reporting for duty here.
Nice to see some familiar names & no WUMMING! (yet..)

Anyway back on topic, I can't remember much about my first game just the brilliant atmosphere. We did win Man U though so that could explain it!

Then I just kept coming back for more. My expectations were way too high for the following games which we probably struggled in

hELLo Aston - it could well have been a night match - I do remember it being dark - but it was October, so could have been a Saturday - gets dark at 3.30 ish.

As you say it was freezing cold but I loved the atmosphere and the music - I remember the match wasn't very good - nothing changed there then!

Gets in your blood don't it - am hooked for life.
