Just wonder what you chaps are thinking about the sacking of Nigel Clough. My feelings are that is of no surprise in the fact the only way they have moved forward is financially and have got a youth policy second to none.Nigel wants far to much time to put a winning formula on the pitch it took ten years with us and there was no way a club like Derby would give him that long.Negative football can only be tolerated for so long then supporters start getting twitchy and demanding at that level. You all know i wasnt a Nigel fan but i did appreciate what he did for our club and hope he bounces back into football soon but not with us.

I found it all very distasteful to be quite honest Mr Emnez, just like I find a lot of what goes on in football distasteful. The managers merry go round is ridiculous. You need to deliver success yesterday to succeed.
I couldn't believe it when I heard the news.
I got the feeling that the powers at Derby wanted them to lose the Forest game so that they could bring someone new in.
The guy gave us league football. Fact. He cobbled together a team from nothing who played as a unit and won games. I still have nightmares about what followed after he left with Roy McFarland in charge.
I wouldn't mind him returning to the club ! It would never happen as he has proved himself at Championship level and he will soon get another job at that level presumably.

otep.i like reading all your posts but this one i cant agree with.clough didnt get you out the league,he left just before the job was done, roy mac didnt nearly lose the league for you clough did by leaving and putting the players into a shell shock situation at his leaving.their boss had gone,it wouldnt have mattered who took over from him,and reguarding having him back, that would be in my opinion a bad move as gary rowett is a far superior manager in every department.poor health prevents me seeing the brewers now and i do miss my visits to the pirelli.so aswell as come on you rams.its still come on you brewers.all the best for the season ahead

I do agree with a lot of what you say Alvastonram as it is undeniably true. I wish he hadn't left when he did and he had stayed to see the job through. The fallout was hard to take for the players - that was evident from the ensuing results.
However, I still maintain that he gave us league football because he got us all of the points that led to a situation whereby even the bookies paid out all bets early.
He assembled that squad and got them playing as a unit with a winning mentality. It was a slow build as we had surprised everyone by making the play offs in the previous season.
He also managed to lay the foundations for promotion in that season despite losing Daryl Clare in the summer. Had it been Greg Pearson and Daryl Clare as our strikeforce we would probably have won the Conference in December.
So, I do agree to an extent, nearly missing out on promotion can be attributed to a variety of reasons, individuals and circumstances.
