Heavyweight in their prime fighting against other Heavyweight throughout history then who would you choose ?
Obviously Muhammad Ali vs Rocky Marciano is a very popular choice and there was even a simulation created of this fight in which Marciano emerged victorious.

Ali vs Tyson is another fight that many people would have loved to have seen and the popular concesus is that Ali would have won that fight.
I personally would love to see how Lennox Lewis would haved fared against many of the all-time great Heavyweights as I think that he would have given the majority of them big problems with his size, jab, intelligence and knockout power (when he actually chose to use it ).
Lewis vs Rocky Marciano would have been a very interesting fight because Marciano was a relentless fighter who continually moved forward at his opponents and would pound them into submission with his non-stop punching.
It would have been interesting to see what Lewis would have done against the threat posed by Marciano because you can only hide behind the jab for so long against a fighter like him.
As great as Rocky was I think that Lewis would still have emerged victorious if only for the size advantage he would have had against Marciano who was only about 5"11.
Another fight I would like to have seen is Lewis against the very underrated Larry Holmes. I think it would have made for a great fight, especially as both are large men with similar physical attributes and good skills. I actually think that Holmes might have emerged victorious in this one but I´m one of those fans who think that Holmes was criminally underrated and in his prime could probably have beaten just about any other Heavyweight throughout history.
However I think that the fight I would most love to see is the great Joe Louis against Muhammad Ali. I have no idea how that fight would have panned out but Joe Louis was a great fighter and knocked fighters out for fun so Ali would have had his work cut out for sure.
If you could have your choice of seeing any

If Tyson hadn´t gone to prison then we probably would have seen a Tyson v Riddick Bowe fight which would have been fascinating.
In fact had Tyson not gone to prison then I think that the 1990´s might have been an even greater era for the heavyweight division with Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield and Bowe (all in their prime more or less) fighting it out to be champion.
Maybe it could have become an era to even compare with the 1970´s which was the best ever era for the heavyweight division in my opinion.

Of course a Lewis vs Tyson in their prime is a fight I would love to have seen.
Not the shíte we were served up when they faced off in 2002 when Tyson was totally shot.

Tunney was a light-heavyweight.
Tunney went on to be Greb 4 times after

Exactly Tunney was a light heavy, and Greg was a middle. That first fight he got butchered by Grab. Greg was a swarmed of unmatched proportions with a granite chin.
Grab vs Hate would be a barnstormer.

Tyson.

Haye would have a 3 stone weight advantage on Greb and 7 inch height and probably more on the reach.

Tunney fought at heavyweight I believe although he'd be too small in the modern era. As would Marciano and even Tyson at only 5"11.
It does beg the question if there needs to be a super heavyweight division created.
That way we could stick all the freak shows like Valuev in there and the heavyweight division could go back to being the great division it always was.

No doubt about it, the heavyweight division is the premier division IMO. The spectacle of two massive guys braying each other skillfully is awesome. The sooner the generation comes back round to heavyweights the better because we need it.

The Heayweight division is the top class, having another weight class above, just makes a mockery of it.
You would just be rebranding the cruiserweight and heavyweight division by such a move.
Divisions are separated by height not weight, Tyson was a 215-220 lbs guy and that is ample size for a heavyweight.
Guys like Valuev don't have an advantage, because what they gain through size they lose in speed.

I'm not disputing that but Valuev is much heavier than most other heavyweights and he's not the only extremely heavy heavyweight out there.
If you look at the Valuev vs Haye fight for example can it honestly be said that those two fighters should be in the same weight division ?
The idea of a super heavyweight division isn't a perfect one but it might at least help resucitate what is a dying division .
