Foxes v Terriers Match Thread

Greetings all and apologies for the lateness of this arrival. Well, Saturday throws together two of last seasons big surprises with both teams weeping tears on the their last game of the season, but for differing reasons. Leicester with their HUGE wage bill could not even cheat their way in to the Premier League with the fabulous Anthony Knockheart taking tips from Tom Daley at Watford, only to totally blow his load in the resulting penalty leaving Boss Hogg to tee up Deeney at T'other end to leave memories of a fantastic Play Off game for us neutrals. Town go into this game having being mullered on their last visit to The King Power Stadium, but history shows Towns record in Leicester is not too shabby:

Played 28

Town Victories 13 (44 goals)
Leicester Victories 12 (46 goals)
Drawn 3

Team News

Get Holmes in everyone is what everyone is saying and whatever happen it's Gerrards fault. Now, I dont agree with all this nonsence as Holmes need throwing in as he has been doing and Gerrard is a much better defender than both Lynch and Clarke, but his passing is worse than anyone else in the team. Lets stop judging a defender on his passing. My team would be

Smithies
Clarke
Gerrard
Lynch
Richards
Hammill
Hogg
Gobern
Clayton
Vaughan
Paterson

Now some wont agree with Paterson, but Leicester wont be expecting him either

Leicester will have a team of very highly paid individuals, so Town need to be at it all 90 mins to stand a chance. If Wood plays though we're probably foooked from the off.

How to get there:

Simple drive there or get someone else to

Where to drink:

Pubs serve fine beer, so I'd try them before anywhere else

Ref

James Adcock who reffed us against Leicester in't FA Cup when we stuffed em 2-1 last season

Any other business:

Tez is doing fine and sends his greetings also, but still has no plans to return........yet

This was thrown together at work and I will add to it throughout the day

I don't know if you've posted under a different name before but how about changing it back....?

I think in light of the opposition next week, a name like that isn't very savoury, unless you're the kind of person who likes to celebrate two innocent men losing their life at a football game?

If its an oversight, forgive me, but best change it all the same as its not very nice

How daft am I! (don't answer that)

I never got onto that!

I called him bingo ray, as in gala bingo!

It could be totally innocent Hydy, he could be half Turkish or something, I don't know.

I just think it's suspicious that a new account gets created with a name like that seven days from the Leeds game.

So Gala, innocent or not, be a decent chap and choose something a little less inflammatory eh? You know it's in bad taste when one if your own calls you out over it

From what I saw today, I think you'll miss Vaughan a lot. I'm not convinced at all it was a red card offence today, but I was glad to see him go because he'd been giving Wes Morgan a torrid time. Your best player for me and a constant threat to us - with him leading the line for you this season I think you're a much, much more dangerous prospect than without.

Jeeez! Did any of the negative posters on here go yesterday? That was a really encouraging display against a top 3 side. It shows how much we've progressed from last season - we matched them toe-to-toe throughout and, despite going 2 goals behind, continued to play slick football and create numerous chances.

We didn't start defensively - we were away from home for fks sake against a top 3 side - you get early pressure against you - you're not going to dominate a team like Leicester. We created as many chances in the first half as the second.

Robins has one or two players on decent money and long term contracts who he would prefer not to have - some who need dumping (Gerrard), some who need to smarten up or will be offloaded (Norwood, Dixon, Woods, Clayton, Scannell) but things are going the right way on yesterday's evidence.

Even the home games are more enjoyable to me - I feel like I'm watching football rather than the aimless stuff we had under Grayson and Clark. Ultimately, we need results, I understand that - but performances like yesterday suggest they will come which is very different to last year when yoiu couldn't see us going anywhere other than down when the rot set in.

I feel lucky to have Robins as our manager and Hoyle as our chairman - Football is better to watch, junior squads are all top of their leagues, youngsters coming through to 1st team squad quicker. Roll on.

Prediction for this season: Barring injuries, Gerrard no longer starting games before Xmas comes.

Interesting comments EggNog.....I listened to the game on radio leeds and Oggy and O'Regans comments...their view was a bit different to yours, especially for the first half...

O'Regan was unhappy about many aspects of our performance..and it did sound like one way traffic for much of the time..

We are probably 4 or 5 players short though, I agree, unless we can get more out of some of the squad players..

Reading some of the Leicester fan's comments tho' would suggest you are nearer the mark than O'Regan...so I'm left even more confused about how we played

I'll be down for the next game though, so will see first hand how we perform...

I posted 20 hours ago that i thought Town had given it a real good go.

& NO
I didn't turn up, .....again
So far this month...
I'm bang on with the prediction.

At 20 odd quid to watch, I wouldn't be turning up If I was there either.
It's not hard to work out why.

Darn - it was worth £28 yesterday - lots of times it isn't even when we win. Town fans even applauded at half time even when we were losing 2-0 and then standing ovation at the end with "mark robins blue-and-white army ringing out". It was positive yesterday in every way except the result.

Keep this team (Gobern especially) apart from Anthony Gerrard (an anagram of 'great big @r5e' - well nearly).
