How time soon goes eh! I remember the day very well, was promised a ticket off one eyed Joe & as usual he was a man of his word, but the fecking ticket was in the old Rangers end at Celtic park and the Hibs end on this day
Never stopped me tho, after a few beers down Bridgton way,the umbrella If I mind,I just said to cyclops Its cool I,ll just tie my scarf around my waist and go with the flo, that changed when I was stuck in the middle of 10k Hibees.
Gets down the front and calls over a steward and in my best chookter accent tells him Ive twisted my ankle and need it seen too,he opens up the gate and takes me into the medical centre, back then it was between the rangers end and the main stand, anyway he leaves me there after telling me I,ll be seen as soon as poss,10 mins went by and the surgery was starting to fill up with all sorts of injurys and a few worse for ware Hibees and Bears, but the banter flowed, gets seen by a doc and he says Im fine Just be careful not too put any stress on it,Then he calls another steward to take me back to the game, heres when the scarf roon my waist gets whipped out,he marched me along the trackside at parkhead passed the dugouts the lot and into the Rangers end,was happy as fook! Its when I got home I got some abuse for being on the telly clear as hell getting an escort roon parkhead with a kidon limp
Think the fella who writes for Rangers website should get his facts straight, this game was not at Hampden,it musta been getting done up back then I guess, thinking about it,was that not the time Celtic asked for the Hampden floodlights?
Canny believe it was 20 years ago tho...

Bears - a Celtic perspective - I remember that Cup Final well too. If memory serves me well it was the 6th consecutive domestic trophy you had won (and you were very close to a Champs League Final too a few months earlier).
As you totally dominated Scottish Football, we were in disarray (4 months before wee Fergus took over) - our dysfunctional board had searched the length and breadth of Stoke and appointed wee Luigi as our Manager.
Despite a very welcome win at Ibrox the following weekend, the writing was on the wall for another trophy-less season and, on phone-ins, some Bears openly talked about 20 in a row and to be perfectly honest, there was not much of an argument to be put up against that scenario, such was the gap between us.
20 years on - the tables have definitely and dramatically turned in our favour but if nothing else the above recollection highlights that nothing is forever in Football and there is no guarantee that Celtic will win titles into perpetuity (wish there was )

I don't recall any Rangers fan postulating 20 in a row to be honest but some did think the good times would never end
Football is cyclical, times like this should make Rangers fans appreciate success when it next happens. Just like some Tic fans who grew up in the 90's appreciate things the way they are just now.
I think Man Utd fans are about to find out how cyclical football gets, well until they establish a European super league for the elite and sod everybody else.

BTG Glad you took my post in the spirit I meant it.
In fairness it was just one or two callers I recall who talked about 20IAR but there was an awful lot of triumphalism then (as there is now from some of the green half) You are correct in that sport is cyclical

That type of fan is one who takes it for granted. I had a pal when we won 5 in a row saying it was boring winning a league title. FFS if the dafty could hear himself now.
Always the first to moan about everything as well.
The sick part of me is looking forward to the meltdown that glory hunter Man Utd fans are about to go through.

Dundee Utd prevented the back to back treble
I liked it when the league cup final was in October as well.

There is no doubt that being a season ticket holder and living in Glasgow in the 90's has made me appreciate the good times now - I will never grow tired of a Celtic goal, win or trophy. Conversely, when Morton knocked us out of the League Cup I lost sleep

I love that Stevie . See these fans that say its a diddy cup, rubs me up the wrong way.
The only thing I would say now is I'm still enjoying my football even though we are in the doldrums because at least I've still got a club.

Listening to H&J on TS this afternoon and there was a Pompey fan saying the same thing about his club.
