Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere balance

Gooners another ugly win yesterday didn't play well again but still got the result which you could say is the stuff of champions but I am getting slightly worried with the balance of the team.

I really don't like this idea Wenger has got of accommodating all his central attacking midfielder at the expense of pace/width in wide areas

Noticed when the ball is played up to Giroud there's a severe lack of support. I think if we had pace in wide areas our tempo, play would be much quicker we would be more dangerous in attack

At the moment we seem to build attacks slowly and rely on intricate, one twos in and around the box.

We are getting away with it at the moment because we are more clinical in front of goal but we can't keep playing like this. Need to improve our attack, need to create more clear cut chances with the attacking players we have.

Another thing what has Nacho Monreal got to do to start a game?

Kieran Gibbs isn't convincing defensively fortunately for him Luke Shaw got injured, Clyne moved to LB and James Ward Prowse moved to RB

Monreal has impressed me everytime hes looks more assured defensively and going forward

More tosh from this John guy.

Southampton don't play as many games as the top teams so they can play like that but can they sustain until the end of the season I don't think so PL is tough Christmas period, no winter break could be their downfall as it could be for us

German clubs have a 5 week winter break whilst English clubs play 3 games every week. Plus theres blood doping going around in Germany the secret to Jurgen Klopp's success for example is fitness and getting his teams to run more than the opposition

I really like Kieran Gibbs but he frustrates me hes got so much talent/ability he doesn't fully utilize his potential especially going forward he could be like Ryan Giggs going past players for fun but keeps looking for the simple option

What are you on about? Gibbs has been a rock. Nothing happens on his left side. He completely owns it.

As has been suggested you're trying to be a hipster again.
You'd suck Gibbs off in an alleyway a year or so ago. Now that everyone likes him you've grown tired of him. Very odd.

I have to disagree with you John on Gibbs. I like Gibbs more when he is doing his first task first that is working defensively well and then try to look what he can do offensively. He was rock solid yesterday and had a good game in my view.

Secondly we played against a team yesterday that prevent us from playing and having much of the ball. I read a statistic that Southampton had 51% ball possession. Not many teams did that at the Emirates.

I agree with you on our midfield. Its not balanced yet and our midfielder didnt find their ideal position. Giroud especially away from home is isolated. Maybe it gets better when Theo is at 100% and Poldi get back as well.

Kieran Gibbs was rock solid when Clyne got moved to LB, Ward Prowse moved to RB. 1st half Southampton were giving us problems on the right Gibbs looked exposed

_____________

Dont think they give us more to think of especially on Gibbs side, John. They had some shots on target through the middle but didnt get too many times through our wings.
