Charles Green

RANGERS' rebel shareholder Paul Murray last night claimed Charles Green is still working in the background in a bid to keep the current Ibrox board in power.

The former club director says he was told by a shareholder that the Yorkshireman approached him last week as he tried to win support ahead of next month’s agm.

Murray’s allegation of Green’s continuing influence comes despite the former chief executive insisting he had absolutely no involvement in the club after agreeing to sell his shareholding to bus tycoon Sandy Easdale.

After striking that deal back in August, the man who led a consortium which bought the assets of the stricken club in May 2012 said: “I want to make it clear this means I will have no ongoing influence or financial interest at the club."

But speaking before he addressed almost 500 fans at a meeting in Glasgow last night – where rebel group leader Jim McColl revealed members of his faction had withdrawn due to serious threats – Murray insisted Green hadn’t stuck to his word.

Green, who was unavailable for comment last night, quit as chief executive in April amid allegations of links to disgraced former Rangers owner Craig Whyte and anger over alleged racist comments about former director Imran Ahmad.

"The stadium will still be up for rent."

At an extortinate amount no doubt.

"You have players to get you to the PL."

Yes, but there's none of them who are worth any real money. And the majority of them will need to be replaced when we do get back to the PL.

"The management team can be changed but in any event how's this different from the players and management you have now? 36,000 are prepared to pay for that are they not?"

Only because of who the manager is. There's plenty who are still in the "Super Ally" brigrade who can see no wrong with what he's doing. Granted he'll get us back to the PL, but the fact is, he has not got the ability to coach these poor players to perform above their level which a good manager has. 36k might pay their season tickets, but thats all down to who the manager is, not what the manager is doing.

"The club will survive in some form or another and the support will carry on supporting them.

What else will they do?"

Probably take up another interest.

"I think you're looking at this bottom up."

Well there's hardly cause for optimism.

can you tell me what you do?

Fck aw
I moan and whinge on a fitba forum, but to be honest, if I was motivated to do some direct action it would be for a more worthwhile cause than a fitba club.

There's very little fans can do to change the board anyway. They don't give a fck.

I'm happy to give the new guys a chance but Fill my Stockingsbridge must gtf along withJack the filthmiester!

Don't like the methods being used by both sides but I think the no show by anybody from the board tells you all you need to know. Last night was a opportunity for reasoned debate but instead it became a rally and more propaganda for change and one sided.

Still made interesting viewing but I would have liked it to have been two sided.

Thus said I stated earlier and will again even at the risk of being ostracised. My money will no longer be spent on Rangers whilst those two are involved. I do however hope that people see I'm doing what I believe is the best for our Club. The last thing I want to do is harm it but right now I don't see any other option.

Sad day

Oh, I'll be doing that alright. I'm not renewing next season.

But apart from that there's nothing else I could do to make a difference. You think hollering "SPIVS OUT" through a loudhailer outside the stadium will make them leave? Or holding up a banner saying "ITS WUR CLUB" will make them give the club to Paul Murray and his crew?

It won't.

So why bother?

There's no way they'll sell 36000 tickets in May with this board in place. They're in it for money alone so starving them of it is the only way. Don't buy shirts , don't pay for Rangers TV and don't but season tickets .Their refusal to speak to fans is an outrage, how the hell do they expect to get votes or support by staying silent ?

as some of you bears have said the best way to get shot of the current board is to starve them out before it's too late.
